Definitely some push back in the state regarding Schiff because California is a diverse state and he's a cisgendered white male. At the moment his main competition is Katie Porter, a white woman. Barbara Lee, a black woman, has thrown her hat in the ring but she's in her late 70's and is currently trailing by quite a bit. (Republicans are in such bad shape they may not even field a candidate because no big money donors want to back a for sure loser.)

But a lot of talk that there needs to be a black woman in the Senate and it is incumbent upon California to deliver. Still aways to go but not looking good right now. Nancy Pelosi has come out and endorsed Schiff.
