Democratic majority Grows!?!

IN the only election last night that had national implications the Republicans self destructed and gave a safe Republican seat to the Democrats!

This may be a national trend? Or was it a lesson the Republicans should/will learn?

Kind of a bad spin on what really happened yesterday.

The GOP had a good night. The Dems have less than a year to make a better case for keeping them in power....

Jarod, short term joy soak it up.
Even the leftest libtard talking heads last night were saying it stunk for obama

I agree, but I think the R and the Conservative Media is blowing it out of proportion.

I do think a big story here is how hugely the Republicans can fuck them selves up!

I'd also note that NY-23 went from a moderate Republican to a moderate Democrat and CA-1o went from a moderate Democrat to a progressive Democrats. While the GOP did very well in the gubernatorial elections last night, the House shifted to the left a little bit.

try getting the truth and stop lying about your so-called conservative media:

Republican wins deal blow to Obama
Republicans win Virginia, New Jersey governorships from Democrats

You just proved my point about the Conservative media...

The House of Reps just moved a once safe seat from the R side to the D side and they barely mentioned it!

This was a direct result of a bitter fight within the Republican party about how exclusive and socially conservative they will be!

Virginia elects a Republican governer, Big whoop!

N.J. elects a Republican governor, they have done it reciently C.T. Whitman!

Presumably your point is that even MSNBC, liberals that they are, are touting this as a "blow to Obama." But your link is to an Associated Press article with an Associated Press headline that appears on the MSNBC website.

Jarod, lofl
MSNBC is almost as left as fox is right. And even they know its a really bad sign.
Dems better start listening to the blue dogs or they will take the seat they are more comfortable in. The minority one.

I was being sarcastic about calling them the conservative media, but I dont belive they are liberal, they are corporate and they report what is going to sell the most advertising. Pitting this as a blow to Obama makes a big splash. The liberals watch because they are frightened and the conservatives watch as they are excited. It sells more soap.

The real stories are deeper than what they are shouting.

The funniest thing about the bolded portion is that in 2001 while Bush was in his first year as president Corzine won in New Jersey and Tim Kaine won in Virginia. In the 2002 mid-terms the Republicans still managed to fare pretty well.

It's kind of funny to go back and look at the analysis of the 2001 Virginia and New Jersey democratic victories and to see what people were saying. Basically, the Democrats said the victories were a rebuke of Bush and the Republican party whereas the Republicans said the elections were strictly about local issues and had no reflection on the President or his performance. In 2009 the roles are reversed.

Yeah this isn't going to make much of a difference. The Dems only hope to hold onto a majority is to do what the voters want and pass healthcare reform. If they don't, it will be the Blue Dogs, not the progressives, who are punished at the ballot box.

and what was the final outcome in 2008?

Very interesting!

Did you guys not listen to the talking heads on TV yesterday? The democrats were all saying this before the results of the elections came out. It is the "smart" thing for the party in charge to say.

Correction: Mark Warner won in Virginia in 2001 and McGreevey won New Jersey in 2002. In 2005 Corzine and Kaine won the governorships in NJ and VA.

My apologies for the error.
