95% of Humans are Spiritual

i used to call myself agnostic, until I realized how foolish I was being. Yes, I technically can't disprove of a non-falsifiable claim. I can't disprove that there is a magical unicorn in the center of our galaxy. But it would be ridiculous for me to call myself a galactic unicorn agnostic. Just as ridiculous as it would for me to call myself an agnostic in relation to god. There is no evidence for either, and they are very much fairy tales. And thus, I choose the atheist label.

No one should care if you are an atheist, an agnostic or a believer. The subject is a no winner.

I just explained how I arrived at my number. The only people who have absolutely no spiritual belief whatsoever, are nihilists, and they make up less than 5% of the population. This number is based on people who claim nihilistic belief, we have no way of actually discerning if they are being honest about it. At the very best, only 5% of the population doesn't have spiritual belief, the rest have something they believe in.

Not at all, my panties never get bunched because I go commando. ...Based on the fact that humans often assume a state of denial when they do not want to face the inevitable. I don't pretend this is a fact, it just is. It is very difficult for a person to rationalize how 95% of the rest of human civilization believes something and they don't, so denial becomes a way for them to justify what they want to believe instead.

It's exactly because you want to play it safe. Or, you are in denial. One or the other. I just got through explaining that you are taking the safe way out by claiming you don't believe in anything, since you can't determine what you do believe. Thanks for completely confirming what I just posted.

Dixie, we don't need god to have morality or value life. I know this is why you god people get bent out of shape. You're afraid of the moral relativists, nihilists, eugenicists and mass murderers. I Fear them too, but all that has been done in the name of god as well.

Check my sig for the keys to paradise.

No, you have repeatedly illustrated how mankind is fully capable of defining words to mean what they want, including "morality" and "value of life." I'm not afraid of anyone or anything, and I feel I am at a distinct advantage in this subject, over people who don't know what they believe, or claim to believe in nothingness, because I don't just believe in something, I am aware and know of something greater than self. For me, it is not a matter of personal faith, it is more a matter of personal realization of what I know. Listening to some pinhead tell me there is no such thing as God, is as funny as someone telling you that your mother doesn't exist!

Someone can claim to be certain of God's existence, but no one can be certain of God's existence.

That's called personal faith.

You pulling your number our of your ass and pretending that somehow makes it valid is quite comical. You have provided more proof that you are a fool.

Again, you are simply projecting what YOU believe onto others. Being spiritual is different than believing in God or not. Being agnostic doesn't mean one is trying to rationalize what others believe. I could care less what others believe. The only people that seem to get worked up about what others believe are the fundamentalists in different religions or extreme atheists.

It has nothing to do with being safe you moron. I believe in Science. I believe in what can be proven. If God's existence cannot be proven or dis proven then I choose to keep an open mind rather than jump on one side or the other based on no evidence.

You truly are one of the biggest morons on this board. 1/3

Of course it can. Check my sig.

The only honest logical conclusion of a divorce from the Divine is Nihilism. Stopping short of that is a cop-out. If there is no God then all of life is mere vanity. There can be no real right and wrong only a societal impostition of the concept which must be as fleeting as whomever is in power. So go ahead and be like the hedonistic Nihilist and live for yourself. To pretend anything you do is important or good is silly, it's all just subjective pretense while living in an objective vaccume. To not believe in God or a believe in the spiritual certainly is a valid position...just be intellectually honest and take it to its logical conclusion.

That doesn't offer any logical proof of God; it only offers a reason why humans NEED there to be a God.

See, Dix? There's an example of man's need in this instance...

However he came up with it, it seems he is rather close to the actual result of the study earlier presented.

Just because the material world is meaningless to you doesn't mean it is to me. You are PROJECTING your belief system onto me, and it's the greatest philosophical error there ever was.

This is honestly a ridiculous argument; why the hell would God give life any meaning? Because he tells you so? He tells you what's right and wrong and so that gives you a moral compass?

Ridiculous. The only argument God would have for legitimacy in claiming to give everything meaning would be his power. God having lots of power and making everything does not imbue the spiritual world with any more legitimate meaning than a material world that comes about through natural forces.

It is interesting you earlier identified yourself as an "agnostic" and not a nihilist. Now here, you give us a glimpse of what you really believe in! You worship at the Holy Church of the Science God! Your "faith" lies in the scientific, and nothing else. So, you are not a nihilist, and you do practice spiritual belief in something greater than man, science!

What is the definition of Agnostic, Dix?

I have projected nothing onto you. You have your right to believe in no God. All I state is that to believe in NO God and stopping short of an adherence to Nihilism, is intellectually dishonest at some level.
