The fall of the wall...

the olympics would have brought billions to his home town, the wall trip would have had rush popping a vessel saying he's on an appology tour. Republicans are the worst possible people to fill out Obama's agenda for travel.
LOL Yea I don't think Obama wants him working on his travel itenerary either! LOL

That's debatable. You weren't around during that recesion, we were. So far, I'd say the post Nixon recesion was worst. That unemployment was just as bad but the real killer was the runaway inflation, which we have not seen this time around so yea, Toppers right.

Actually I just pulled the Nixon reference out my ass as an example.
I do and many economist think this one was over played in how bad it was. We'll see how the recovery makes in look in a year or two.

The pretense that you did not intend this to be a partisan issue is laughable. Just admit that you read Lowry's National Review piece on RealClearPolitics this morning and posted this thread about it in response. And if you want to pretend Lowry and the rest of the folks at the NRO aren't neo-con Republican freaks you are free to do so. Just don't ask the rest of us to play along.

I fall back on "it's no big deal" because to any sane, reasonable person (Republicans and neo-cons obviously excluded) it is no big deal.

wrong guess....

Like I stated, to the left, it IS no big deal.

The sane people (at least those old enough to remember) will show the event a bit more respect than those on the left who support Obama.

Merkel being in the US has nothing to do with this event.

This makes NO sense at all. The Presidents job is not to pimp for the Olympics. The Presidents job IS to stand with our allies to mark events that are as historical as the wall being torn down. Pretending the moron Rush has anything to do with this is quite simply pathetic.
Darn and I had always been taught that the Presidents job was to run the administrative branch of government. Now I find out he's supposed to be a figure head. Learn something new everyday. [/sarcasm]

This is another "man bites dog" whoop de fucking do contraversy.

In general, I agree. It was bad form to turn down this invite but I agree with Topper, there are more important things to worry about right now. Like two wars, a recovering economy and the battle for health care reform. Obama's plate has been extraordinarily busy and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to a "man bites dog" issue like this. Though I'm sure Topper is also right that this made up controversy would sell lots of commercials on AM talk radio.

why does obama hate freedom? he has to stump for dem candidates, fly to NY for a date with his wife, play trick or treat....

but not honor one of the most important moments in the 20th century?

maybe he wishes communism would have won..
STRAWMAN!!

!!

NEOCONS are some confused nutsuckers.
There is plenty to gripe at Obama over. this aint it.
How about pissing away billions.
Throwing the anti-war groups under the bus.
Throwing freedom loving progressives under the bus and then backing it up over them again.
Cap and Scheme.
Come on neotools, you gotta bring better whining than that or we will reject you like Shaq daddy swatting down Ross Perot.
:good4u: Another nice Neocon Tool Burn !! Wahoo Topper!

yes, there ARE more important things to 'worry' about. The point is, he has time to pimp himself for the Olympics, he has time to Pimp for Corzine and Deeds etc... but suddenly... NOW he has no time for anything but his health care bill etc...?

Gotta get socialized medicine for all by the end of the year....time's a wasting don't ya know!!

I can remember going into the work force in the late 70's and how jobs were soo much harder to find and they only paid minimum wage and inflation was running away at nearly 20%. I tend to agree that so far this recession may be a bit over played and I hope it has been. If it has been it's because TARP and other actions worked.

Like I said, they are quick to apologize and make excuses for Obama. We cannot dare tarnish the image of the One. Suddenly Obama is 'too busy'. LOL.... poor Dems... such apologists.

no way weakling
I gave you a dozen reasons to hate on Obama, YOUR SHIT IS WEAK:clink:

LOL Sorry, didn't mean it that way! I meant you sounded like him the person and not the paternal figure.
Not doggin on your age cuz.

JK, kinda a backhand complement to you and superfreak on the cycling endurance. My sorry state has me just doing about 12 miles on Sunday's with the wife.

Hey, zappa. I just got another negative rep from you, as you know. The problem with you, is you're just jealous no one wants to kiss your ass. How repulsive that would be. YUCK!!

I am currently contemplating attempting an Ironman. My parents are in Florida, so I may sign up for that one. (plus it is a very flat course, so would make a good one for my first)

It would be November of 2010... plenty of time for anyone to get in shape and join me on it.... :) I am just hoping to finish in the allotted 17 hours. My bike time should allow me to have plenty of time for the marathon (which is the leg I dread)

Sweet, I was feeling old before you posted that. Now I think I just farted dust.

I was watching a replay of some of the Kona competitions this decade... those that completed the race include...

1) John Blaze... diagnosed with ALS, he wanted to do an ironman before he could no longer move. In 2005 he completed Kona... the most grueling of the Ironman competitions. A few years later, ALS took his life.

2) A male double amputee

3) A female amputee

4) an 80 year old grandfather

5) A 65 year old blind grandfather

After these and many other inspiring runs... I decided I don't have an excuse any more....
