"I am going to get assault weapons banned."--President Biden

Is this an "Assault rifle?"

Squirrels think so.

None of my semi-automatic weapons has ever hurt a person. I can’t say the same for some of my WWI and WWII bolt-actions rifles…which truly are “weapons of war”. No doubt the Right Strippers want to ban those too.

Same. I’ve got a couple of semi-auto rifles and 7 semi-auto pistols. None of them has ever taken a human life.

I also have a bolt action 303 British Enfield, a couple of Japanese late WWII bolt action 7.7x58 Arisaka rifles and an Italian bolt action 6.5 Carcano rifle. I can’t say the same for them.

All I can say as I have already noted, no rights are absolute, and all rights are based upon reason, not desire, a major tenant of the social contract
So if the majority want to ban abortion, make Evangelical Christianity the national religion and ban the immigration of brown people, you are good with it?

Don’t you see the dark path banning things leads our nation down? Our government should be expanding rights, not limiting them.

I would like an Arisaka rifle for my collection. Do you have a hard time getting ammo for it? Is it super expensive to shoot?

Lol…better hit him in the head if you want anything left to eat is all I can say. :)
I saw the results of a guy who hunted squirrels with a .223 semi-auto rifle. “Too much gun” was the best that can be said..and he didn’t hit them in the head. My single-shot .22 was better.

I’m only willing to shoot one of these. The other was too much of a “last ditch” rifle for my trust. And ammo is hard to find. I reload most of mine and when I can find loaded bullets or brass I buy a few along. Reloading it isn’t that expensive but with the primer shortage of 2021, 2022 and now into 2023 (I’m still on a waiting list) I don’t shoot as often as I used to.

That’s what I want a 32 cal muzzleloader for. I want to make squirrel hunting interesting again. ;)

The ammo isn't too hard to find, particularly if you have one in 7.7mm versus the 6.5mm version. Both are pretty crappy rifles however. The safety is impossible, the bolt action is stiff and they aren't particularly accurate.

It’ll mainly end up a wall ornament, but I like to have the option of shooting them. “Crappy rifle” is one reason why I don’t want a Carcano, but if you gave me one, I’d take it and keep it. :)

The Japanese rifle would be due to Marine Corps history in the Pacific. I also like to ensure all have accompanying bayonets with them too. LOL

If you get the 7.7 early version it has a useless, wobbly, monopod stand and wing sights for antiaircraft fire on it. The really rare ones are IJN that were issued to SNLF naval infantry versus the IJA version.

That’s how I ended up with all of these. They have been given to me over the years by various relatives. No bayonets we’re included. :(

All of the above is true. The safety seemed to be designed so it had to purposely put in the firing position and couldn’t wind up there accidentally. Nasty guns…but I like guns so I never turn one down. ;)
