I can drive my EV without coal.
Can you drive your ICE car without petroleum?
Strawman fallacy. The point is EV's use carbon based fuels, including coal and that are NOT 'green' (whatever the fuck THAT means!). Indeed, they are much less efficient than gasoline cars.
EV's must be charged. To do that in a reasonable time (hours), you must use a lot of electricity. That comes from converting fuel to electric power in a power plant, generating waste heat while doing so, converting it to high voltage, generating waste heat while doing so, transmit it along high tension lines, generating waste heat while doing to, convert it back down to distribution voltage, generating waste heat while doing so, transmit it along distribution lines, generating waste heat while doing so, convert it to your home voltage, generating waste heat while doing so, run a charger, generating waste heat while doing so, charge the battery, generating waste heat in the battery while doing so, then drive the car, generating waste heat while doing so.
Gasoline cars only require obtaining the fuel using a small pump, getting it to a refinery, using a bit of fuel while doing so, refining it using a bit of fuel while doing so, then getting it to the fuel stations, using a bit of fuel while doing so. Using gasoline in my car does generate waste heat which can be used to keep the cabin nice and comfortable in the winter. On...and the waste heat in those trucks? Yup...it keeps those truckers warm in winter too!
All in all, about twice the energy is required to move an EV about the same distance as a gasoline car.
Your fear of CO2 is based on bad math and discarding the laws of thermodynamics and the Stefan-Boltzmann law. No gas or vapor has the capability to warm the Earth.
You cannot trap heat.
You cannot trap light.
You cannot trap thermal energy.
You cannot create energy out of nothing.
You cannot heat a warmer surface using a colder gas.
It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth.
It is not possible to measure the global atmospheric CO2 content.
It is not possible to measure the emissivity of Earth.
Less than 1% of the cars on the road are EVs'. There's are reasons why. EVs are more expensive to buy, more difficult to maintain, take hours to charge, use almost twice as much energy doing it, do not handle inclement weather or events well, are a fire hazard, and have poor resale value.
Government subsidies and mandates to buy EVs is socialism. It is fascism.
Toyota has already announced they are abandoning the EVs. Others still sell them of course, but they are laden with problems. If you want one still, go buy one. Just remember who you are ripping off doing it.
The snobbery around the EV is astounding.
