Top reasons to buy an electric car instead of a gas vehicle

https://apple.news/AhnCrlmP2T1SKYR18k-wChg

I've driven electric cars from Tesla, Audi, Porsche, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, Rivian, and more.*

EVs offer tons of benefits over gas cars that have nothing to do with being green.

Electric rides are quick, fun, spacious, and brimming with cutting-edge features.*
After driving well over a dozen new electric cars, I'm convinced that one is in my future.*
To be sure, there are real challenges to buying and owning an electric vehicle today. They're quite expensive to buy new and hard to find used. Charging infrastructure is immature enough that it can pose a challenge on long road trips.
But the many advantages of EVs are tough to ignore.*
EVs are quick, fun, and quiet

Almost all EVs, from budget Chevys to sporty Audis, have more pep in their step than comparable gas cars. They deliver instant, brisk acceleration that helps immensely with quick merges and the like. And besides the practical benefits, being able to shoot forward at a moment's notice is just plain fun.*
They're also super quiet and smooth on the road, since you don't hear the grumble of an engine or feel its vibrations. Particularly in high-end models like the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the experience is serene.*
They're packed with interesting features

Electric cars are where you'll find the latest in automotive tech and novel features you didn't think you needed.*
Teslas, for example, have a dog mode that keeps the air on for your pet and a sentry mode that records any fishy behavior near your car. The Chevy Bolt EUV offers Super Cruise, an excellent hands-free driving system for highways. The Mercedes EQS has an optional 56-inch array of screens that should make tech lovers salivate.*

The Kia EV6 boasts a couple of power outlets, while the Ford F-150 Lightning can offload enough electricity to power a house for days.
They offer cool storage solutions and spacious interiors

Since electric cars lack bulky components like an engine and transmission, automakers enjoy lots of flexibility to add extra interior room for people and stuff.*
Take the Ioniq 5 SUV, for example. Hyundai stretched its wheels far out to either end, boosting passenger comfort. Like many EVs, it has a totally flat floor (with no hump running down the middle) which does wonders for legroom. And it has a unique, sliding center console that lets owners decide when to free up more space in back or up front.*

The Rivian R1T pickup truck has an awe-inspiring gear tunnel, a transverse storage cubby behind the rear seats that's accessed from either side of the vehicle. The F-150 Lightning, among other electric models, offers a giant front trunk. Tesla's Model Y pairs a frunk with generous under-floor storage in back.*

Charging can be more convenient than getting gas
Once you get the hang of charging, it can actually be less of a hassle than filling up on gas. If you have a garage or driveway, you can plug in an EV at home overnight and wake up with a full charge in the morning. And while you run errands or travel, you can often find chargers to add a little juice while you're out and about.
Yes, an EV needs to sit for a long while to charge — much longer than a typical fuel stop — but consider how much of the day your car is sitting anyway.*

For example, while I spent the day skiing last winter, I left the Polestar 2 I was reviewing plugged into a free charger at the mountain and came back to a nearly full battery. Charging will only get more streamlined as more plugs sprout up in parking lots, offices, and on city streets.*
All these advantages, plus the huge benefit of not burning fossil fuels, make EVs a clear choice for many buyers.

Brother, Sister Rent Tesla But As Soon As They Hit Cold Weather, It Took 17 Hours To Go 450 Miles

Xaviar Steavenson and his sister Alice Steavenson wanted to experience the joy of driving a Tesla cross country.

They rented a Tesla from a Hertz outlet in Orlando, Florida, and headed out on the road to their destination – Wichita, Kansas.

While the Tesla performed well in Florida, Xaviar Steavenson told Cowboy State Daily that things took a turn for the worse when they encountered cold weather. They had to stop six times in one day to charge the vehicle.

“The last day of our three-day trip, it took about 17 hours to go 452 miles,” Steavenson said.

That must be the reason all car manufacturers are now making EVs and millions of people worldwide are buying them
You stupid MAGA moron POS.

How cold is too cold for electric cars?

Edgar Barron with Long Lewis of Alabaster said batteries in electric vehicles don't last as long when outside temperatures drop below 45 degrees. Some EVs can lose up to 35% of their range in freezing conditions

Gas cars loose ZERO RANGE

Then why are people ditching their gas cars for EVs in record numbers, VolsSuck?.

Too bad your Vols sucked this year in college football. Herndon Hooker is gone. You're gonna suck worse next year. You may even lose to Vandy.
BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Consumer Reports Still Ranks Tesla Reliability 27th Out Of 28

It now places 27th out of 28 manufacturers (the same as last year), with vehicles like the Model Y being present on CR’s list of 10 least reliable cars. The smaller Tesla crossover has a reliability rating of just 18, which makes it slightly more reliable than a Volkswagen Tigua, but slightly less reliable than Chrysler Pacifica. CR wasn’t any kinder on the Model X, pointing to its falcon wing doors as a constant source of problems.

California sues Tesla citing ‘hundreds’ of racism complaints in factory

It's strange that conservatives "root" for alternative energy and conservation measures to fail.

The future health of the planet is a non-partisan issue. Or should be. I kind of wish that they'd just add "pro pollution and habitat destruction" to their platform so voters would understand the choices they're making.

California won't let you charge the electric car it wants to force you to buy

California’s grid operator is telling residents not to charge their electric cars during regular heat waves in order to avoid straining the grid.

Get the grid ready first I have no issue with EVs

EV charging will never work in the inner cities of Detroit Philly etc

Global EV sales continue strong. A total of 4,3 million new BEVs and PHEVs were delivered during the first half of 2022, an increase of +62 % compared to 2021 H1.
The regional growth pattern is shifting, though. Following 2 years of steep sales increases in Europe, EVs gained only +9 % over 2021 H1 there. Weak overall vehicle markets and persistent component shortages have taken their toll, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. EV sales in USA and Canada increased by 49 % for H1 year-on-year, despite a weak overall light vehicle market which plunged by 17 % during H1 y/y.

China NEV sales defied all challenges the country is facing otherwise (real estate crisis, Covid lock-downs) and increased by a staggering 113 % for H1. BYD more than quadrupled sales to 641 000 units, making it the #1 in the global sales ranking, if their 315 000 PHEV sales are included. Counting BEVs only, Tesla still leads by a wide margin with 565 000 units delivered in H1.

PHEVs stood for 27 % of global Plug-in sales in 2022 H1 compared to 29 % in 2021. While their sales volumes still increase, their share in the PEV mix is in decline, facing headwinds from incentive cuts and improving BEV offers. Sales growth is increasingly depending on the degree of electrification. While BEVs grew by +75 % and PHEVs by +37 %, non-chargeable Full Hybrids grew by +14 % and Mild Hybrids backed by -7 % y-o-y H1. ICE-only vehicle sales declined by -16 %. Total global light vehicle sales were down 8 % y/y for H1-2022.

Rapid EV adoption in weak auto markets has boosted EV shares further. BEVs (8,2 %) and PHEVs (3,1 %) stood for 11,3 % of global light vehicle sales at H1 close, compared to 6,3 % in 2021 H1. Norway had the highest market share of EVs in H1 (BEV 69 % + PHEV 8 %), China had 21 %, Europe 18 % and USA 6,5 %. The fastest growing markets were India with 20 700 units BEV & PHEV for H1, +273 % and New Zealand with 8 300 units, +260 %.

For the full year of 2022, we expect sales of 10,6 million EVs, a growth of 57 % over 2021, with BEVs reaching 8 million units and PHEVs 2,6 million units. By the end of 2022 we expect nearly 27 million EVs in operation, counting light vehicles, 70 % are BEVs and 30 % PHEVs. Sales of Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCEV) in the light vehicle sector have declined by -9 % so far and are below 20 000 units annually. Current sales are from 5 vehicle models and most sales are in South Korea and USA. We estimate their current population to ca 55 000 units.

Electric cars are the future! Unless they find an affordable renewable clean burning modern fuel!

Trustfundie Treehuggers Glorify Jungle Rot

What the perpetual enemies of human progress call "Clean Air" is the most toxic of all.
It is full of killer viruses and bacteria, which auto-emissions cleanse. "Pollution" is a dishonest term taken from a mindless pagan superstition.
