Putin is executing huge numbers of his top supporters, because he realizes many of them are considering killing him. This is not winning.
That doesn't surprise me. Kill or be killed in a Soviet shit hole.

Behaving like a 2 year old.
Putin said at the beginning he wanted the first capital of the Rus, which is Kiev.
They do not control Odesa. The Russians have been pushed back to the Western bank of the Dnipro River, retreated from Snake Island, and completely lost Kherson. They are far enough away from Odesa that they can no longer shell it, and there is no direct way they can attack it. At the beginning it looked like they could capture Odesa, but that was 9 months ago. Today, they have no hope of taking Odesa.
As for control of the Black Sea, Turkey still controls access to the Black Sea. Ukraine can destroy any ship that sails far out in the water in the Black Sea. Russia's remaining Black Sea navy (minus its biggest ship) hides in its ports.
Russia has one 55,000-tonne STOBAR carrier that was built in 1985, named the Kuznetsov. It is currently being refitted, and so probably can not be put into operation.
India has two carriers, 45,400 tonnes STOBAR Vikramaditya, built in 2012 by the Russians, and the 45,000 tonnes STOBAR Vikrant, built in 2022 within India. Both are fully operational right now.
So India has twice as many carriers, of similar size and capabilities to the one Russian carrier, but India's carriers are newer and actually working.
In other words, India can project their military power globally, and Russia found it impossible to project their military 60 miles from the border.
That doesn't surprise me. Kill or be killed in a Soviet shit hole.
Putin rules by fear, but lives in fear.
India has jack shit.
Which is exactly my point. If India, which is "jack shit" is double Russia in economy, aircraft carriers, etc., what does that make Russia? Half "jack shit"? Not even a complete "jack shit"?

Actually, that's not your point. Look at your next sentence. You have to be smarter than that to talk to me Salty.
I could understand if Ukraine was offering to free prisoners who volunteered to fight the Russians. It is a much smaller country without a military tradition that is fighting a world power. Of course they are not making any such offer to prisoners, but in the hypothetical situation they were making such an offer, I would understand.
What I am having trouble understanding is why is Russia offering violent criminals freedom to fight in a war Putin refuses to even allow to be called a war? Right now if you are in prison for a crime in Russia, you can get out for a year of fighting in Ukraine. And these are some terrible criminals... Who will be free as they want to be... If they can survive.
I still am having trouble understanding how they can be given tin helmets, or worse yet airsoft ballistic vests. Both are basically toys that looks kind of real to the uneducated eye. I am not saying figuratively toys, but literally toys of absolutely no use in real combat. Or why they were using Chinese tires for their heavy artillery, even though the tires would burst under the pressure. The Chinese do not take Rubles, so they had to come up with real payments.
There is a readjustment we all need to make about the power of Russia. Ukraine is a plucky country with lots of innovation... But still, a lot of it is Russia is so much more pathetic than any of us could imagine.
