And yet another Biden disaster

Oh god in heaven....another topic you know NOTHING about.

In the sciences it is well known that many have been closed off to women and minorities for decades. Yes things are improving but not fast enough.

I work in chemistry and we have a few more women than in the past, and definitely biology is zooming ahead with more and more women getting degrees and positions. But engineering and some of the other sciences are still lagging.

I had friends who got their engineering degrees at major universities that didn't have women's restrooms in the engineering building so they had to convert mens rooms on alternating floors into women's rooms so that they could have more women in classes.

EDI does NOT threaten quality if done correctly.

Are we REALLY going to be treated to your uninformed view of science YET AGAIN????

Are you really that stupid? Putting people into STEM jobs on the basis of race and gender is asinine. Ability is what counts, not the color of your skin or what's between your legs. Women go to college in greater numbers than men now. But men still dominate in STEM, because women choose not to take those degrees. They aren't being stopped from it, they just don't want to learn or do what those degrees require.

To somehow claim that is gender bias is absolute bullshit. There's nothing holding women back from STEM degrees other than their own personal preferences.

They are still selecting qualified candidates. Sheesh.

God you folks on the Right are TERRIFIED that someone who isn't you is going to get something sometime.

Gah! How do you LIVE like that????

How do you know that? I've seen more than once someone promoted because of race or gender that everyone else knew was totally unqualified. I've also seen such persons have their career ruined because they couldn't handle the job they were promoted into. I say it's wrong to force that choice on selection boards, etc., by fiat (what Biden's doing) because it sets those selected but not qualified up for failure.
Worse, it makes those that know they got passed over when they were far better qualified to want to quit, retire, or stop trying as hard because of it.

It is a policy that generates mediocrity, not success.
