with the exception of 'armed to the teeth', I open carry a handgun every day, including to the grocery store. should that present a concern to those people?

Not that it is relevant to the topic, but your data is from 2014-2016, and is only discussing those guns originating in Illinois, in 2022, over half the guns were from out of State (https://abc7chicago.com/chicago-crime-shooting-guns-illinois-gun-laws/11937013/)

Correct, that is why it was referred to as the wild, wild, West, and someone in crowded spaces visibly armed like Rambo goes beyond just carrying

the 'wild, wild, west' is NOTHING compared to parts of CA, NY, and IL............so what makes you safer? leaving yourself defenseless in the hopes that government can protect you? or assuming responsibility for your safety and those around you?
