As you can see from today’s vote for House Speaker, there is no longer a cohesive group called the republican party. I think that’s a good thing.
You have a small group of trumpish radicals, the Jim Jordan, marjorie Taylor, Green, Marjorie, Taylor, Greene, and Lauren Bobart types… and then you have what used to be called that the Republican Party. As you can see, they do not make up a majority.
Now, I do not like party politics, I think we would be better without parties, and I think our government was designed to work without parties. I do think it’s progress that the republican party is disintegrating. It well could be that a small group of Democrats will decide what republican become speaker of the house.
