No Republican nomination means he has NO CHANCE of winning the election and he knows it

But running gives him cover and a way to make money off his dupes


And like you said he can then punish all the republicans who refused to bow to him and be “loyal”

Trump's election campaign is not catching on. He stopped having rallies because attendance was disappearing. His online rants are only read by a small group of Trumpys. Trump is recognizing that he needs the Republican party apparatus to have a chance. This 3rd party thing is a threat so they will stay behind him. The party is aware that a Trump 3rd party would destroy them in 2024. It would wreck their chance on all levels. They have a year or so to figure it out. They may help the court cases against Trump to take him out of the equation. A Trump in jail may be a rallying point.

He has a better chance of winning a straight primary fight than anyone else right now since the fight will happen in the primaries but I agree he may want revenge more than the nomination. It also would give him a special place in history - The Trump Party.

A two way race between Biden and trump or DeSantos in 2024 would be 52/48 in the popular vote, and trump or DeSantos could in theory make an Electoral College win out of 48% of the popular vote. A three way race of Biden, trump, and DeSantos, would be 52/24/24. There is no way to turn 24% of the popular vote into an Electoral College win.

Your problem is you think it will be a "straight" party fight which means you don't understand what's happening here. Most GOP voters are not republican.

Agreed. A Trump third party would be strictly a one man show for a one turn run, and it will be just for the show, not the four year annoyance of the job. Seems to me this is why there is a chance he will do it.
A new party gives him the show with little risk of winning.

I have a feeling that despite their public support for the turd, the (R)s in secret are pushing for his indictment, arrest, conviction for various crimes. That would solve all their Trump problems, wouldn't it?

I love it. Let them destroy each other. They're always threatening a civil war. They can have it against themselves. Also, when did this "uniparty" thing become a thing? MTG and Trump are threatening to finish destroying the Republican party if all members don't put on a swastika armband.
