obama ties bush on golf

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/may/15/georgebush.usa

"George Bush has angered US war veterans by declaring that out of solidarity with those who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq he decided to make his own sacrifice: giving up golf.

In an interview with the Politico website, the president said he took the decision because of the war. "I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.""

I saw post above and I also saw the Fox Morning Show where they presented the same garbage. The conclusion they, and you, are trying to leave is that Obama has taken more time off than bush, which is crap and you know it. The only conclusion anybody with a brain can honestly make is that Obama enjoys golf more than bush. Show me where Obama has taken more vacation days than bush in the same amount of time, the double standard is yours if you can't.

Most puzzling after watching the Fox show is that they consider their viewers so dense as to not question, yet their viewers don't get angry. Did you ask yourself is it simply that Obama plays more golf or has he spent more time on vacation than bush?
Now show me anywhere, anytime, people disdained golf while bush was president.

I think you are missing the point. Those on the left like to harp on Bush's 'vacation days', just like you did above. The point is, Bush was working from home.... it isn't like he was just taking days off. Technology today actually allows people to work from home. That was Yurts point. The left liked to pretend that every day in Crawford was a 'vacation day'. Which is bull shit. Hence his posting of the 'more golf'.

Do you know how much gets done on a golf corse... I imagine in politics its even more than in my business, but lots gets done. Relationships are forged spending 4 hours in a golf cart working on a meaningless activity.

As I said, the President needs a release and I have no problem with him golfing. But your post above is not likely. For business people, yes. For a Senator taking a bribe, sure. But for the President??? Doubtful.

I suspect that when Obama plays golf, he plays with powerfull people from whome he wants something.

Perfect example of FOX NEWS only reporting part of the truth to make the president look bad.

FOX NEWS - FAIL!

No. Not sure what Fox News has to do with this thread. Read the original post. It said Obama played the same amount of golf in his first 9 months that Bush did in over his first two years. It was comparing a time before Bush self exiled himself from the golf course.

It tried to insenuate that Obama played more golf than Bush did in his entire term, sure when Bush 1) did not play for the majority of his 8 years and 2) Bush perfered other sports to golf.

They intentionally failed to mention that Bush quit playing...

Why confuse the issue with 'golf' if it's regarding time off? That, my friend is the true bullshit.
You contadict yourself. The original post and Fox merely compare bush's and Obama's time on the golf course and the period of time it took in order to leave the impression that Obama is taking it easy when compared to the hard working bush. I have no idea which works/worked harder, I only know the oriiginal post and Fox gave partial info to leave a desired false impression. However, given the fact that it is from Fox, if Vegas was laying odds, my money would be on bush having the highest score.
When bush was in, I did plenty of harping on what he did, not what he didn't do. Any day incommunicado would have been a plus day for the country and have savd lives somewhere. Fox's object in the story was to leave the impression I got. I am merely clearing the air with a bit of truth for counterpoint. I still would like to see evidence of complaints about the frequency of bush visits to the golf course.

The first time I saw, it those three Fox early morning bozos were runnning with it. They said nothing of intelligence for thinking people, so not to worry.

Ugh those guys are terrable... Have they ever said anything of intelligence?

Dude, it's right in the article...

President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he's already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years.

CBS' Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, "Today - Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24.

Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months."

Like I said for me personally I love golf so I have no problem with Obama playing as much golf as he wants. I think there are a lot of positives from being out on the course. It's a chance to clear your head which is important for someone in as stressful position as the President and depending on who he's playing with it allows for talk in a non formal setting which can sometimes be better.

But it seems pretty clear you feel defensive about it when you are saying the article didn't state what it is clearly stating. And it clearly says the guy is from CBS, nowhere does it mention Fox News.

Now you would like to leave the impression that golf is the issue. Fox and their obedient sheep, by design, would like to leave people with the false impression that Obama in 9 months has taken more time off than bush.

Maybe you missed the point, if there were complaints about bush's time, it was not about golf but the amount of time off. Do you have any figures about Obama's trips to Chicago as compared to bush and Crawford?

Christ, you lefties are acting like big crybabies. Tell us exactly what Obama has done since he's been in office other than continuing his campaign.

you're flat out wrong, reread the OP...it was a guy from CBS....not FOX

but nice to see your bias get the best of you again

LOL - you guys can't get your stories straight. Either Obama is "just like Bush," or he's the most extreme radical ever elected to the Presidency. Either he "hasn't done anything," or he has done nothing but pass & propose one Socialist measure after another, which will destroy the country eventually.

You really need to put some notes together & get a memo out there so you can all get on the same page...

shows a double standard....

You are right!

It shows that while fair & balanced Righties accepted Dubya's record number of days every year vacationing at his ranch with nary a peep, now suddenly they want to whine about what the President does with his free time.

i don't recall anyone from the right complaining about what obama does with his free time in this thread....pathetic strawman....and thanks for showing your double standard, criticizing bush while while nary a peep about obama
