View the released Trump tax returns

They did not audit him as required -- per their own regulations -- for the first two years of his presidency. If you will recall, he had an (R) House and Senate then, plus HE controlled who headed up the IRS. All presidents have been audited while president for years per IRS regulations, regardless of party. This is to ensure that they are not accepting graft, bribes, foreign income, etc. IOW, it's to keep them honest.

Why wasn't Trump audited then, hmm?

If he wasn't audited, apparently the IRS found no issues.

You do not understand. It is a matter of routine to audit *every* sitting president *every* year. As Phan pointed out, since 1977. Yet there was no audit of Trump's returns until 2019, and that wasn't until a congressman requested the results of the routine audit from the IRS. Then someone said "Oops, guess we just forgot to do that with this president."

Secretary of the Treasury

Who is appointed by...? ;)

RB is trying to make this look like another one of the Reichwing's fabled witch hunts. He refuses to acknowledge that ALL POTUSes are audited every year. ALL. Except of course for when the IRS "forgot" to audit Trump until they were caught off-guard by a congressional request for the audit results. This gave the committee legal standing then to demand the tax returns in the course of discovering why, of all the presidents since 1977, that particular one wasn't audited.

You made the claim, show me what you’re talking about. President and Vice President, except for Trump’s tax returns are public information, so again, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

"According to the website, Tax Notes, “Presidents aren’t required by law to release their tax returns. Nevertheless, between 1974 and 2012, every president but Gerald Ford has made a voluntary release of the tax returns they filed while in office. Ford released no complete returns, but released 10 years of summary data including gross income, taxable income, major deductions, and taxes paid.”

In a letter dated April 6, 2017, the IRS acknowledged receipt of EPIC’s appeal but again stated that it was closing EPIC’s request as “incomplete.” The agency asserted that “any future request regarding this subject matter [would] not be processed.”

On April 15, 2017, EPIC filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeking to compel disclosure of the requested tax records. On August 18, 2017, the Court granted the IRS’s motion to dismiss EPIC’s case, concluding that “until President Trump or Congress authorizes release of the tax returns, EPIC (and the rest of the American public) will remain in the dark.”
As Marc Rotenberg, President of EPIC, has said: “There has never been a more compelling request presented to the IRS than the request from EPIC to obtain the tax records of President Donald J. Trump.”

It is a Democrat witch hunt. Nothing more.

The whole point of the IRS doing the president's and VP's taxes is to avoid a problem. Trump knew he had a problem, so he forbid the IRS from doing his taxes. Then figured if they did Pences, Trump would not look honest, so he stopped Pences from being done. Trump appointed a suckup, Rettig, to run the IRS. He knew it was needed. There is only one reson for that, and it is not good for Daffy Donald.

You want Trump's taxes publicized before any charges are files. So he has no right to privacy?
Not as a former President of the United States. He knew he was required to publish his tax returns and we now know why he didn’t want them made public.

in oral arguments they told the court they only sought the returns to determine if the IRS was fulfilling its duty......obviously releasing the returns has nothing to do with regulating the IRS......

There has to be legal ramifications. First, they lie about why they want them to the courts, then they publicly release them violating existing laws and basic common sense and decency. Stunning. :palm:

It's obvious that they don't think our laws apply to themselves.
