Lawmakers vote to release former President Trump’s tax returns

I'm an employer. I own two companies; one small, one pretty large.

Never once have I ever demanded to see the tax returns of people being interviewed for employment.

Not once.

Never.

I know of no instance, ever, anywhere, in the history of hiring people, where the person being interviewed was told he had to provide his tax returns.

Ergo, your insistence that he was "interviewing for a JOB. Americans have a right to know because of that circumstance" is nonsense...

Every president for the past 50 years has released their tax returns. Trump promised many times to do so. He must have forgotten, but Congress has "reminded" him!

I guess Congress also forgot to pass a law making it a requirement.....

Had Trump said early on that his taxes were private and he wouldn't release them, is one thing. However he promised over and over again to release them. Now Congress will do it for him.
You are petrified of what will be found in those taxes after the experts get ahold of them.

You are too late, my dear!!

am I?.....is there a 48 hour statute of limitations on violations of federal laws?......I find it interesting that people who knowing violate a federal statute saying no person is allowed to release tax documents justifies it on the basis that the IRS started its audit in 2019 instead of 2017......

actually I am more worried what the amateurs will think they have found.......there are valid reasons why people who have a guy in the lobby of Walmart doing their taxes should not be given access to someone else's tax returns......

It simply doesn't matter.

You need to wrap your head around the fact that he cannot be compelled to release his tax returns. Period. The fact that Congress has voted to do it is disgusting and, quite frankly, worrisome...

One truly bad excuse after another, my dear. You can do better.

Has not the Supreme Court agreed with Congress? Do you know more than they do?
Congress has released personal tax returns in the past. Do your homework.

and can you explain how that gives anyone besides the congressional committee responsible for overseeing the IRS access to the tax returns?......

Most candidates and government officials make those documents available to the public. In Trump's case I think the court made it public. The Freedom of Information Act might be a factor.

Trump said he would make his tax returns public if Obama made his birth certificate public. Obama did so and Trump changed his tune. Turns out the "audit" he was waiting for never occurred.

The percentage of people who want to see his tax returns is utterly meaningless, as is the number of people who'll actually look at them.

Unless there is evidence of illegality contained in those tax returns, I can't see a single reason to release them. I don't vote for someone based on their tax returns. That's just stupid. When was the last time you reviewed the tax returns of Presidential candidates? Let me help you out: YOU NEVER HAVE.

You said it yourself: You don't have a right to see them. Base your vote on that. But, unless you review the tax returns of other candidates, all this is is whining...

I didn't whine about anything. My point was exactly what you repeated, nobody is going to read those returns (although somebody would be paid to examine them). It is just another thing to create news coverage and cause a controversy. I did look at Biden's tax returns and public disclosure but couldn't find any evidence of "Chinese money."

certainly FOI is not an exception to the statute stating that no government official shall disclose anyone's tax returns..........if you are aware of an exception that applies I would love to hear it......but the reality is even the committee had to convince the SC to allow them access for the limited purpose of making sure the IRS was doing its job (which certainly doesn't include making them public).......

you haven't even tried to make an excuse for the only people who are visibly violating federal law.......I won't pretend you could do better.......you're the worthless shit type.......

Get yourself a lawyer, my dear, and present your case before a judge. However I believe that Donald has already tried that, maybe you can do better!

How frightened you are that the world will see from these returns, just what a terrible businessman this man was, and that's on top of all the fraud that will be uncovered.

so you agree the tax returns should not be made public and should only be examined by those capable of understanding them?....

Probably, unless there are legitimate reasons I am not aware of. I think it is a non-issue being used as another talking point and the constant need to create news stories stir controversy; much like the Hunter Biden stories.

are you seriously going to say that if someone posts Trump's tax returns on the internet that nobody is going to read them.....
