White House Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was roasted for climate hypocrisy after flight data revealed he flew on taxpayer-funded jets while advocating for the need to reduce carbon emissions.

"Shouldn't anyone who espouses that hyper-moralism in terms of environmentalism, shouldn't they be the ones who have to live the most stringent lives in terms of keeping themselves from enjoying luxuries like private plane travel?," FOX Business host Kennedy asked on "Outnumbered" Monday.

Buttigieg, an advocate of increased government action to curb carbon emissions, has taken at least 18 flights using taxpayer-funded private jets since taking office, Fox News Digital has learned.

"Walk the walk, man," "Outnumbered" co-host Emily Compagno responded. "It is ridiculous to me that our tax dollars are funding for someone to travel internationally to Canada to pick up an award for advancing LGBTQ rights. Why then wouldn't you, in your symbolism of advancement, take a
commercial airline?

"The notion that his holier-than-thou-ness is costing me? That's what I can't take," Compagno continued. "I would love for my tax dollars to stop paying for their hypocrisy.".....

Symbolic nonsense. One of my least favorite aspects re: the climate debate. Do you drive an SUV? Do you fly? Do you use a lawnmower?

These are just sad deflections. Systemic change is what is needed - how we produce and consume energy collectively. Anyone's individual actions amount to zero mathematically. Literally - zero.

It's just a "gotcha" people who don't want to deal w/ the problem use.

A private jet emits more CO2 in one hour than 600 cars. There was no reason to fly private to Canada to pick up an award from a LBGQ organization. He is supposed to be setting an example.

True environmentalists don't care what individuals do. For every 1 that conserves a little, 2 more are born into the world that will consume twice as much in their lifetimes.

It's symbolic nonsense. And it can be taken to all kinds of extremes. I've been through massive questionnaires on this board - do you drive an SUV? Ever fly? Why aren't you living in a cabin without electricity and growing your own food?

Systemic change is needed. Individual action amounts to zilch.

It's like if I shut down every honest discussion about illegal immigration w/ "hey, are you working the border?" It's totally arbitrary and meaningless. It's just used to distract from a productive discussion on a real crisis.

So you're NOT interested in reducing the use of fossil fuels. That's what we always assumed but nice to see it confirmed.

On the contrary. We need to get off of fossil fuels, and relatively quickly.

The development w/ fusion energy today is exciting in that regard.
 
Department heads using private jets is just what they have to do. They have tight schedules and travel a lot. Commercials cannot keep up. Buttigieg cannot sit around an airport for hours.
