GOD BLESS YA, KID! Last year I was hospitalized for 1 month with Covid....nurses had to clean me up until I was able to do it on my on. They did this without complaint and were sympathetic to my embarrassment. I watched them deal with hysterical patients and obnoxious ones. NURSES ARE NOT PAID ENOUGH!

I live with a nurse who is paid extremely well. Every work night she comes home with the same horror stories about patients that are abusive, family members that are worse, and the case load that is borderline illegal.
Nurses get abused by patients and doctors. Heaven forbid you call a doctor with a drug order for a patient when he's on the golf course.
During Covid, they got pizza and parades for a few months. Now they get warned that a unit will be shut down.

When I have been hospitalized I have sent the nursing station pizzas or edible arrangements. As a physician in the OR I have found nurses are highly professional. But on the floors some are great and some are there just for a paycheck. But that is like most professions.

OwlWoman did you work the day shift or did you work the night shift.
It's been my observation that:
1) JPP's most ardent RWers are elderly Euro-American males, most probably single and in a retirement facility or living alone.
2) In Euro-American males, anger and hatred are often a fear response. I'm guessing the same applies in other countries, but my expertise is American males.
3) In the over 65 demographic, disease, infirmity and cognitive abilities are deteriorating in all but faster in some than others. Alcohol abuse is a common cause of faster deterioration. Alcohol and drug abuse can be measured by noting the differences in behavior between morning and evening, or on weekends for working people. Some only post in the evening...probably after a snootful. LOL
When I worked on the floor, it was evening shift. They didn't have 12s. The last three years I worked days M-F, doing managed care.
