Florida GOP donor, DeSantis ally under 'active investigation' weeks before death, authorities say

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Kent Stermon, a prominent Jacksonville-area Republican donor and friend of Gov. Ron DeSantis found dead in his car Thursday night, was under “active investigation” by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

It appears foul-play is not suspected and since he didn't have obvious injuries, I'm thinking heart attack or suicide-by-poison. Fentanyl is popular.

Kent Stermon, 50, was found dead in the parking lot of the Mayport Post Office Thursday night. Foul play is not suspected in his death, police said....

...The I-TEAM has since confirmed that Stermon, who was not employed by the Sheriff’s Office, was given an access card to JSO headquarters for the past five years -- at the same time, he was donating thousands to GOP candidates, including former Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams.

Ooops. This one says it was suicide and Kent was being investigated for sexual misconduct.

Criminal investigation preceded suicide of high-powered GOP insider
The criminal investigation into Kent Stermon involved allegations of sexual misconduct, according to multiple law enforcement sources.
Stermon was the president of Total Military Management as well as a GOP kingmaker, seen as the conduit between Jacksonville politics and Tallahassee. He died by suicide, according to the Atlantic Beach Police Department. He was 50 years old.

So...you are trying to make a big deal of someone who is an 'ally' of DeSantis?
Who is 'under investigation'?

Jeez...what's next?
Anyone who DeSantis ever heard of should be arrested?

I don't like DeSantis.
But this is ridiculous.
Wait - at least - until the guy is convicted of something before you start shoveling dirt on him.

Once again, I DESPISE, both parties.

DeSantis is a great Governor to the people of Florida. What is it you don't like about him?

Whomever this person is, I've never heard of him. Another non-story.

Most GOP Kingmakers like to stay in the background, out of the public eye. While you never heard of him, Casey's man Ronnie most certainly has. LOL

Boosters help, they don't guarantee. They are also losing effectiveness; a new study shows them about 43 percent effective. But that's 43 percent better than zero. And there is the further benefit of a milder case if you get infected and an extremely low probably of a bad side effect, so there is no sensible argument against them, only a dumb political argument from the reliably dumb Right.
so from what you're saying it certainly sounds like more research is not going to hurt... I don't see much reason in getting a bunch of shots that might help but then again might not... much better to focus on staying healthy and then if you do get the flu you're in great shape to battle it... and then have the natural immunity... unless you're extremely compromised not sure why you would agree to take a whole Battalion of shots when they're iffy...
Do you get a flu shot every year? I do and will continue to do so, both flu and COVID. We have a friend fighting for his life in a hospital in Ft. Meyer’s, FL with COVID, he’s unvaccinated and unfortunately, he’s losing his fight.

I’ll keep getting the boosters.
I'm a big fan of modern medicine. It's like ammunition; not always perfect, but the best we have available.

A person would have to be an idiot or crazy to not take advantage of something most of the planet wishes they had.

FWIW, the biggest killer of flu isn't flu, it's pneumonia. The flu lays the person out, and then the pneumonia drowns them in their own juices.

Not to be harsh, but while I fully support educating Americans and supporting them with access to preventative medicine such as vaccinations, I'm also supportive of letting stupid people kill themselves with their stupidity. Seriously. Let them die. They're fucking everything up.

Enough is enough. The big problem is how to limit the number of smart people that the stupid people take down with them.

Influenza is a common cause of pneumonia, especially among younger children, the elderly, pregnant women, or those with certain chronic health conditions or who live in a nursing home. Most cases of flu never lead to pneumonia, but those that do tend to be more severe and deadly. In fact, flu and pneumonia were the eighth leading cause of death in the United States in 2016.

Number of deaths for leading causes of death
  • Heart disease: 696,962
  • Cancer: 602,350
  • COVID-19: 350,831
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 200,955
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 160,264
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 152,657
  • Alzheimer’s disease: 134,242
  • Diabetes: 102,188
  • Influenza and pneumonia: 53,544
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 52,547

Agreed. Worse are those Americans suffering and/or dying because they can't get the medical attention they need because fucking morons are clogging up the system with their stupidity.

It's like people who always shit on the FBI or police then, when a crime is committed against them, the first thing these idiots do is scream for help from the FBI or police.

You cannot trust the CDC, doctors, government health agencies, or medical professionals of any kind. If you seek the truth about viruses and vaccines, right-wing news is the place to go. What do they know compared to Qanan, Infowars and Fox Gnus? They are the real experts.
