Cheney "Dithered" for 7.5 years!

You said Cheney didn't speak out while the administration "dithered" for 7.5 years in Afghanistan and Iraq. As Superfreak and I stated Cheney was all over the news during Bush's Presidency speaking out about what he felt the U.S. should be doing. It's not like the man sat in the background while not saying a word.

I understand you are trying to stick up for Obama you just picked a very bad analogy to do so.

No he was part of or running an administration that did just what he is attacking Obama for doing. If he disagreed he should have spoken up. I know he did not say a word so he clearly agreed when it was he and Bush doing the same thing.... Now that Obama is doing it, he attacks.

I think you are misunderstanding what Jarod is saying. He's not saying that Cheney said nothing at all about Afghanistan for 7.5 years. He seems to be saying that Cheney is suddenly criticizing Obama's policy which is pretty much the same was when Obama took office. Basically, Cheney is criticizing a policy he previously supported.

well than why are you lefties so upset with Cheney...wasn't your savior in chief suppose to STOP all wars and make the whole world love us again..
but of course you all can't put the blame where it belongs, you have to someone else to blame for his mess..

It was a good speech by Cheney and true. This will ruffle a lot of feathers. Too bad. :D

LMAO... how do you 'know' he didn't say a word???

Yes, supported or possably even drafted himself...

At least not to the media, like he is doing now!

Remember when Cheney used to do the rounds on all the Sunday political talk shows to gather support for the administrations policies? You don't consider that speaking out?

That is speaking out in support of something he is now attacking Obama for.

On Afghanistan I agree with you. Definitely the last few years (if not more before) of the Bush Administration things were kept pretty status quo in Afghanistan.

I would disagree with Iraq which Jarod also mention. Agree or disagree with the surge I would not call that dithering.

As far as Afghanistan goes my recollection of the campaign trail was of Obama speaking of a war of necessity and the possibility of a surge. My observation now has been Obama has not been willing to truly take charge with what he wants to do and thus we are kind of in a state of flux which is not a good place to be. While Cheney shouldn't have been the one to say it I think he has a point nonetheless as to what's going on right now.

No, that's not what he's attacking Obama for. His argument, which has been made by others, is that we are somewhat in a state of flux as to what Obama's real strategy is.

I didn't catch the reference to Iraq, I thought he only mentioned Afghanistan. You are correct as far as Iraq is concerned.

On Afghanistan, I don't think it makes any sense to do a surge to support the present government given the electoral fraud and looming recount.

I may be wrong, and if I am I will admit it in a few months when it becomes clear... but...

With the political situation in Afganistan in flux I belive Obama is unwilling to anounce a plan until he knows what he is dealing with. It is likely he is following a great stragety, using the threat of sending many more forces without commiting to get them to do the right thing!

Cheney didn't speak out while he was in office? I think if you do a modicum of research for better or worse the man spoke out quite a bit.

What would you call or consider what we are doing in Afghanistan right now?
more than we did in the last 4 years of the Bush administration.

Cheney isn't criticizing that they are there, he is criticizing that Obama is taking so long to make a decision to commit or get out. This is "dithering"...

Of course, Bush "dithered" on surging in Iraq for years... (not 7.5 that's an exaggeration, but he "dithered" for sure, for at least 3 years, if not the entire 5 we were there during his terms) and it was detrimental to both the troops and the Iraqis. Why should we not have learned from such a mistake and demand something more from the next President?

Cheney did not speak out when his administration dithered for seven and a half years in Afghanistan and Iraq....

Now just over 9 months into Obama's administration he attacks obama saying the "Dithering on Afganistan must end"!!!

Does this man have any creditability with anyone?

It's Dick Fucking Cheney.

Who in the hell cares what this idiot has to say?

Is it possible to have lower ratings than Dick Fucking Cheney.

He has become the poster child for low approval, the icon for disaster.
