UK; Ukraine will lose all access to the sea

It is kind-of weird to me that such an attitude would come from the American left, who generally loves the EU and hates the US.
Nuland you probably know is in the Biden adm and was also under-secretary for Ukraine area
( East Europe affairs or whatever the title)

The left have welcomed the neocons Trump drove out of the Republican party (Boot/Frum)
But i think it's say to say the Progressives still hate/de-legitimize the US

Oh, those guys are certainly not welcome in the Democratic Party. They are just paid clowns who are temporarily allowed to appear on progressive media. Which is too bad, because, I used to like reading George Will, David French, and Jonah Goldberg on NR. Never really was familiar with Max Boot or Jennifer Rubin, because, I don't read WaPo. Obviously, I knew Frum and Kristol by reputation.

Will is especially disappointing. I thought he was more measured. Now everyone is a neocon against Putin
Putin severely fucked up - and Russia will be hated even more

Ya they are like fleas. they move in and infest until the are fumigated away to their next digs

All the Russians have to do is to take Odesa to render Ukraine land-locked. The Ukrainians have to defend Kiev and Odesa simultaneously.

Zelensky could save some semblance of an independent Ukraine if he called a halt now and submitted to the pre-war Russian requests.

The Russians never took Odessa or Kyiv, and never really came very close to taking them.

Ukraine, a second rate European nation, has fought a world military superpower to a standstill.

To get a sliver of land on the edge of the Sea of Azov, Putin decimated the Russian military, he burned all his bridges to Europe, and he made NATO stronger, bigger, and more unified than ever before.

You talk as if it's over. Odessa is blockaded by sea.

Repetitive nonsense is still nonsense.

The Ukrainians liberated Kherson, and Mykolaiv and Odessa are under no plausible threat of Russian occupation.

Why would Zelenskyy submit when Ukraine is winning on the battlefield and gradually liberating territory the Russians previously occupied?

Your notion of ' winning', bugler, is based upon small , localized, advances into territory that the Russians don't seem bothered about holding over winter.
Less bugle, more practicality.

How's the Odessa Pleasure Cruise Company faring ?

It's time for a review of our predictions of the trajectory this war would take, from nine months ago:

Cypress' Judgement:

Ukraine is not Chechnya, Georgia, or Moldava. Ukraine is a large country with a substantial military, capable of inflicting significant damage.

Ukraine has morale and commitment on it's side. There is a long history of proud nationalism in Ukraine which Putin may have underestimated.

Moon and Putin's Judgements:

Ukrainian army- leaderless, deserting, unsupported .

Your churlish attempts to promote yourself as an heroic prognosticator are laughable,

Since Russia invaded in February, one of the overwhelming narratives in the Western media has been that of low morale among its troops.

The Ukrainian armed forces, on the other hand, have been portrayed as being highly motivated to fight to defend their country.

But that may not be the whole picture. In an article in today's Washington Post, two officers leading a company of volunteers describe their concerns about lack of support from senior commanders on the front line.

Company commander Serhiy Lapko says: "Our command takes no responsibility. They only take credit for our achievements. They give us no support.”

They are refusing to continue to fight, and face arrest and court-martial.

The Post also includes a video by a group which says it is part of the 115th brigade, 3rd battalion fighting at Severodonetsk. They say they are refusing to serve because they have "no battle commanders, no equipment, no respect".

"We have been waiting for reinforcements for two weeks now," one serviceman says. "We are being sent to certain death."

Cases of Ukrainian volunteers refusing to fight have been rare, and another group of fighters in the same battalion have countered with a video of their own, describing them as deserters who abandoned their colleagues.

"They thought they were on holiday," a service member says in the video.

Rumblings of dissatisfaction do appear to have become more common, though.

Members of a territorial defence battalion from the central Cherkasy region said that though they were willing to fight, they lacked the heavy weaponry they needed for combat.

The video, which has the address of an unofficial military channel on Telegram, was posted by a pro-Russian blogger in recent days.

The channel says there has been a sharp rise in the number of similar videos since the beginning of May.

Nobody here posts a news article innocently just as a public service. You don't post articles unless there is something you fundamentally agree with about them. You obviously loved the concept of retreating Ukrainian soldiers

Your pro-Ukrainian Nazi suppositions are characteristic . You'll always fail to apply them to me though.
