I don't like that we feel we have to change the standard, that has been the standard since the invent of the English language, to make someone "feel" better or make it appear that we are "giving them equal standing." When I write the generic "he" in sentences that might apply to both genders I am in no way thinking less of the women (womyn if one prefers) to which it may apply any more than I am thinking more of the men to which it may apply.

The "standard" is something that is always changing, just look at English from 20o years ago, its not the same, and English in 200 years will not be the same as today. Your argument is silly.
