The Faustian bargain made with Russian citizens 20 years ago was that he would give them economic freedom, peace, and prosperity, if they looked the other way while he limited political freedom. I believe if Putin wasn't sensitive to the social dynamics of Russia, he would have put the nation on a total war footing months ago.

Are you saying that Putin hasn't imprisoned thousands of dissidents, and created laws to censor the truth in the press?

Even Putin knows that he has to keep up the charade, but I don't believe that translates to 'caring about what his citizens think' when it comes to making decisions.

I think he suffers delusions after being in power for so long. He keeps winning elections by murdering or imprisoning the competition.

At that point, it would make sense for Ukraine to attack inside of Russia in order to destroy missile capability

Because of NATO sanctions, Putin has turned his own country into a GHETTO and a Police State. And Putin is holding the entire world hostage with his threat to start a Nuclear war.

But, Putin's threat also holds his own population hostage, as the Russian people know they will be the target for the world's retaliatory Nuclear attack should he carry out his threat, and they don't trust him. They fear, he will start a Nuclear war and get them all killed. Just as America never felt safe so long as a tyrant like Trump carried the nuclear codes, Russia's people has that same fear of Putin.

I also believe that Russia's Military is divided between loyalists who are loyal PUTINTARDS, and Patriots who support Democracy and the Russian people.

So, I believe a Coup to take Putin out of power is being drafted and planned as we speak!

Should that happen, it all comes down to whether it will be successful or fails.

THAT IS THE QUESTION. BUT, I believe it is up and coming as sure as the sun is coming up tomorrow!

I never believed that Putin would survive an order to use nukes. His top generals know the ramifications, and would put a bullet in his head instead.

Whereas you are correct about good/bad, the problem here is that Putin is just taking aim at babies and the elderly for the sake of being cruel.

At the very least, his missiles should be targeted no matter where they are stationed. He's already been completely embarrassed, including at sea.

I sense the end is near, but he's going to destroy quite a bit more territory before he's ousted.

He is also trying to cushion the impact his war has on the affluent white Christian population of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and urban western Russia. The last people he wants to alienate are those people.

I read a piece about the poorest regions suffering with no heat or water due to crumbling infrastructure. They are livid that Putin is wasting billions on war crimes.

Reminds me of seeing a film clip of Chris Christy grilling in the sun, sitting on a Beach in Jersey with his family, that he closed to the public, while 1,000's were still stuck on a bridge in traffic because of his weak leadership to resolve the problems in his state. Also of Ted Cruz trotting off to a Tropical paradise while Texans were literally freezing to death.
