The definition isn’t a secret. “Stay woke” dates from the 1930’s. The musician Lead Belly used it. It was a warning to black Americans to be alert to the discrimination around them. The term fell out of use until recently when it resurfaced and is now used mainly as a mocking insult by whites.

You have cited him and posted his works multiple times in the past, presumably in hope that it'll "get through" to us.

John McWhorer has not tracked the root of "woke" back to it's own origin but made up his own definition of it to suit his narrative.

As a Black man, he should be aware of racism that has existed for 100's of years. He is a traitor to Black Americans everywhere. His "elitism" does not shield him from criticism.

For the most part, I treat them like men except in the rare instances where that's not appropriate.
I'm a political progressive who loathes the superficialities of "woke."

I respect women enough to expect them to speak the language properly, and most of the intelligent ones that I know do just that.
I assume that I need have lower expectations for you, Honeylips.
 
To be fair, there is one good thing about that guy. Redeemable.

McWhorter advocates three programs: ending the war on drugs, teaching reading by phonics to children lacking books at home, and free vocational education, promoting the idea that not everyone needs a four-year college education to succeed.
