We watch that every night but I have yet to see that commercial. It might have something to do with recording and then watching the program about 10 minutes behind and fast-forwarding through all the commercials. lol

We wouldnt want to offend anyone by having a safe blood supply would we?
 
In the 1980 I work in a Thoracic ICU and we gave blood products PRBCs and FFP to almost every heart surgery patient we had. The only patients that did not receive blood products were Jehovah Witnesses. Any about that time some blood products were tainted with HIV. As a result 5 or 6 of our patients caught HIV. One even transmitted HIV to his wife. None of our JW patients caught HIV. It was at that time blood banks stopped taking blood from homosexuals. I see no reason to exclude homosexuals from giving blood these days as long as all blood products are screened for HIV and hepatitis.

Since the nation went through the fiasco of contaminated blood in the 1980s, I strongly doubt any medical agency would allow it to happen again.
