Idaho Student Murders

Unknown at the moment, but I'm guessing someone let them in.

The police haven't released the autopsies, order of death or any other significant facts. This is why I think they have a good idea who did it but are working on having enough evidence for an arrest.

IMO, the murderer will have cuts on their hands.

Probably left their DNA behind as well.

How many people were living in the house?

"Three of the victims – Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, and Xana Kernodle – lived at the house, while the fourth victim, Ethan Chapin, was there sleeping over with his girlfriend, Xana Kernodle, on the night of the attacks.[8][10] Two other female roommates also lived at the house; they slept through the attacks, and were not injured.[11]"

It's a very strange event. Something is very wrong

According to their friends the door was frequently left unlocked. Typical "but nothing bad ever happens around here" attitude. Sad deal.

Oh yes. Wish it was like back in the 50's. You could just leave bicycles and doors unlocked and not be worried about it.

At least that's how it is in Japan today.

That's my thought. Let them in or the murderer was familiar enough with the house to know about the second deck sliding door. The fact they were only upstairs is interesting.

The two others, home at the time, were sleeping above them.

The fact the police are closed-mouthed about it tells me they have suspects but are still working on the evidence to make an arrest.

Most stabbing murders involve injury to the murderer because all that blood and violence makes edged-weapons slippery.
If the knife had a blade guard on it, like many hunting knives do, it may have prevented the attacker's hand from slipping onto the blade.

A hilt would have helped, but the crime scene was splattered with blood. Even murdering one person with a knife is a mess. Murdering four is bound to cause the attacker to have wounds himself and leave DNA behind.

Actually, I'm not sure on that one. I thought I heard the "uninjured were upstairs, asleep".

Your own link says different:

The two surviving roommates had returned home by 1:00 a.m., and were in their beds on the ground floor of the home at the time of the murders. They were not attacked or held hostage, and did not awaken until later that morning.[18] The four victims were stabbed to death on the second and third floors in the home, where they had been sleeping.[12] The victims were not gagged or restrained,[2] and the walls at the scene were splattered with blood.[19]

Have autopsies been done and info about the weapon used released?
