Texas Guard to send 'tank-like' military vehicles to the border

Tanks are mobile vehicles which launch large projectiles over relatively short distances.

Personnel carriers are not remotely tank like.

True. Republicans lack imagination and creativity. They're boring.

YES! Finally, SOMEBODY gets it! Republicans like STABILITY. Every time a politician gets "imaginative" and/or "creative", it ends up costing Americans either freedom or money. And you should know, there's nothing new, cutting edge, "imaginative" and/or "creative" about communism, socialism, "democratic" socialism, or national socialism. It's all been around for over a century, and it's never worked no matter how much you polish those turds.

I have always gotten it. Been saying it.

Prior to Reagan and JFK presidencies, Reagan was about slow process and JFK was about fast process. JFK had the imagination and we all did along with him and we got a man on the moon!

Conservatives are about maintaining the status quo or slow progresses in areas such as economy, spending and technology.
Liberals are about exploring, rapid progresses and such.

Thus there is a balance between them as it was meant to be.

But since JFK and Reagan (and Nixon too), America has been going down in a spiral to a shithole, then Trump and the GQP hammered a final nail in the coffin.

So we are pretty much fucked.

Right now there is no balance. Who is to be blamed for it?

Correct. We see that the GQP media is very "imaginative", "creative" and "liberal" with the "facts", causing further divisions and throwing everything off balance.

I think, if you are even serious, are beginning to see it. We see it clearly and it seems hopeless.

YES! Finally, SOMEBODY gets it! Republicans like STABILITY...

Supporting immorality in the name of stability is wrong. It's unChristian.

Do you believe all of your female relatives should be denied the vote? The same equal rights you share? Or do you support the STABLE idea of keeping them as second class citizens, maintaining white males in charge "just like Jesus said"?<--- Jesus didn't. It was someone who never knew Jesus who wrote it and selected by men 300 years later to be in the Bible.

Disagreed on fucked, but We, the People most certainly have problems to work out.

Agreed on lack of balance. Blame the American people as a citizenry and culture. The United States is largely a victim of its own success. With success comes laziness and complacency. I blame ending the draft in 1973. Too many Americans have grown up fat, dumb and happy without a fucking clue about the world outside of their own. It's all about "Me". There was even a decade named after it and 1/6 was further proof of the narrow selfishness of Americans. If it was up to me, in order to vote, a person would have to do four years in the military or civilian service such as the Peace Corps. For satisfactory service, they'd get two years of college after service at selected schools. They'd have the option of completing college courses for free while in the service. Played correctly, they could have a four year degree by age 24....and be voting citizens.

LOL. Agreed. Fox is very imaginative. I favor a law requiring "news" agencies not to put liars on air. Make those going on the air to take an oath that what they are saying is true or to clearly admit it's only their opinion and there are no facts to prove their statements or "theories".

The situation isn't hopeless, but it's distressing to let the nutjobs be the loudest voices in the room. At some point, a majority of Americans will stand up and shout "Enough!" The recent Midterm vote was one indication We, the People, are nearing that point. A major White Nationalist terrorist attack would likely be a tipping point.

I like your optimism. A subject of empty half/full half glass of water came up while I was talking to my mom. Made me think of something.

I told her that the glass is always full of "water" and asked her to figure it out. She asked me if it was a metaphor or a riddle. I be like NOPE. It's scientific.

I'll let you answer it.

If you include water vapor then, yes, it's always full.

Optimism isn't perfect, but it often produces better results than negativism. The whole Little Engine That Could motto is correct. A positive attitude helps produce success because it optimizes the individual. Positive people keep trying until they succeed. Negative people give up.

What Is Positive Thinking?
Research has found that positive thinking can aid in stress management and even plays an important role in your overall health and well-being.1 It can help combat feelings of low self-esteem, improve physical health, and help brighten your overall outlook on life...

Positive thinking is linked to a wide range of health benefits, including:

  • Better stress management and coping skills
  • Enhanced psychological health
  • Greater resistance to the common cold
  • Increased physical well-being
  • Longer life span
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease-related death

If you include water vapor then, yes, it's always full.

Bingo! I know you are a very smart person.

I gave my Mom a few hints, like what's the difference between Phoenix and WV?

After some hint, she was like AAAH. She got it!

I asked her the 2nd question about volume. Let's assume you are holding a glass half full of water. What happens when you go below or above sea level? Things get weird as you go to the height of the top of Mt. Everest.

Agreed. I was in the dumps so I talked to my Mom and we talked about the glass of water. Then we discovered the morals of the story that can be applied to our lives.

More fun is to have an unopened large bag of potato chips then fly or drive up until it pops and scares the shit out of everyone who can hear it.

Go above 14,000 feet and people start showing signs of hypoxia. Severity depending upon overall health and fitness. The Payne Stewart crash is an extreme example of the problem.

LOL. So what is your answer as to what happen to the volume of water in the glass as it goes higher and higher? (Hint: It depends so there is no wrong answer)

We are letting the cartels kill 100K Americans a year. When are we going to do something about it?

GHW Bush 1991: https://las.depaul.edu/academics/po...and the Racialization of the War on Drugs.pdf
On September 6, 1989, President George H.W. Bush formally announced his
administration’s new national drug control strategy. According to Bush, the “gravest domestic threat facing our nation today is drugs.” But for Bush, there was one drug in particular that dominated in terms of danger: “Our most serious problem today is cocaine, and in particular, crack. Who's responsible? - Let me tell you straight out. Everyone who uses drugs.” Here, Bush takes a step beyond Nixon and Reagan. While they shifted blame onto drug addicts in more subtle ways, Bush explicitly identifies drug users – specifically, crack users – as the cause for the deterioration of the nation.

The traditional Republican view of drug users and the drug problem identifies those who buy and use the drugs are the primary problem. Why do you object to that view now?

I would expect there'd be some expansion. It will definitely expand when it gets high enough to freeze solid....like everyone on Payne Stewart's Learjet would have. It's a toss up whether everyone died of hypoxia first or hypothermia.

On average, the air temp drops below freezing above 8,000 feet. Payne's aircraft leveled off (programmable autopilot) above 46,000 where the temp would be less than -50F.
