I did take a position. You don't like the position I've taken. Fair enough but what you like isnt relevant to me.

So it may well be a stupid idea and it may be unreasonable and ineffective but it's not unenforceable. On top of that the perceived ineffectiveness of it is mostly due to the continuous delays and appeals associated with a death sentence conviction.

Now as to the death penalty itself I disagree with it for many reasons but if it is passed as a punishment for selling drug then my initial statement stands, people who sell drugs should consider a new career if they could be executed for selling drugs. The problem is we are too nice to morons. People make stupid choices and we feel compelled to save them.

Anyway, no they will not "consider changing their career" over threat of death. This isn't fucking Saudi Arabia.

Even if it happens here, you can be sure there would be a massive 100x increase in the drug sales and nobody would give a fuck. Good businesses for everyone, especially the government. We saw that during the Prohibition and the fucking War on Drugs.
