Wave of attacks rock Odesa, Kyiv, Dnipro
Local Ukrainian officials say two people have been killed in a missile attack overnight on the southeastern region of Zaporhizhzhia following new Russian missile attacks.
Three others were wounded in an attack on the northeastern city of Kharkiv, and three were hurt in Odesa.
Explosions were heard in several parts of the country, including the southern port of Odesa, the capital Kyiv and the central city of Dnipro, and civilians were urged to take shelter as air raid warnings were issued.
Targets included the huge Pivdenmash missile factory in Dnipro, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
“Missiles are flying over Kyiv right now. Now they are bombing our gas production (facilities), they are bombing our enterprises in Dnipro and Pivdenmash,” Interfax Ukraine news agency quoted him as telling a conference.
State energy company Naftogaz said that Russian missile strikes damaged or destroyed some of Ukraine’s gas production facilities.
Naftogaz chief executive Oleksiy Chernyshov said Russia had carried out a “massive attack” on the infrastructure of gas producer Ukrgazvydobuvannia in eastern Ukraine.
“Currently, we know of several objects that have been destroyed. Others have suffered damage of varying degrees,” Cherynshov said.

Thankfully, the Russian strikes on Ukraine's infrastructure have been, largely, highly accurate and casualties have been few.
That won't necessarily cheer those who feel the approach of the Ukrainian winter- but it's better than being dead.
Complying with Russia's requests for secure Russian borders would also have been better than being dead. Biden's desire to end Europe's growing associations with Russia could not proceed without a war- and that's why there is one.
