trump claimed that executing suspected drug dealers with little to no trial was what allowed China to get rid of drugs. First off, China has a huge drug problem, so it did not get rid of drugs. More importantly, allowing the execution of innocent people has made the drug and corruption problems worse, not better.
Don't sell drugs...Simple...
I am pretty sure that he was talking about the philippines.
The death penalty is a brutal death that does not deter crime, in my opinion. Life in prison is not only a more humane punishment, but a more effective deterrent. Also, if the person convicted in error, once executed, there is no, "do-over".
I'm ashamed that the US is the only civilized country that still executes people.

trump has stated admiration for the Philippines, where the police regularly kidnap innocent people for ransom, claiming they "might be drug dealers." Most recently, in trump's announcement he gave a rambling statement about China that made no sense in the greater speech, and the greater speech made no sense either. trump said, "if you get caught dealing drugs in China you have an immediate and quick trial, and by the end of the day, you are executed. That’s a terrible thing, but they have no drug problem."
A lot of the rest of his speech includes the statement "people are saying", when he cannot backup his crazy claims.
He even claimed to have gotten rid of the B-52, because it was too old... The B-52 may be old, but it is still flying. He claimed it was 60 years old, but it is actually 70 years old. There are people flying B-52's that had great grandfathers' flying them... Not just grandfathers, but great grandfathers. It is a great plane, and we should not throw it away just because it is old. Luckily, it was only trump's dementia talking, he did not get rid of it.
Almost all of the western world has given up on the death penalty. We are almost alone in the western world.
