Trump and the GOP's sad denial of climate change

So, "they" say that the ocean level will only rise 1/8 of an inch....over the next 300 years? That was Trump's claim yesterday.

In truth, the U.S. National Ocean Service is projecting a 10-12" rise over the next 30 years.

It's just the latest. Very few Republicans have even acknowledged some of the warning signs we have now. Instead, they see the topic as fodder for lame jokes and ridiculing liberals. Trump suggested that nuclear war was a much greater threat.

Spoiler alert: it isn't. This planet is in some real trouble unless people can start thinking rationally about this very REAL issue, that is right on our doorstep.

Who fucking cares? At the end of the last ice age, there was a sudden rise in ocean levels of about 400 feet in less than a century. That's serious and worrying sea level rise. It rising a foot is no big fucking deal. And, with Joke in the White House, nuclear war is a bigger threat. That stupid bastard has been trying to get us into one for over a year now.

Spoiler alert: People are in serious and real trouble if they listen to Leftists posing as scientists who think in irrational and fanciful--not to mention delusional--terms about things happening in nature.

Ok, what do you want done? You can get 20 people in a room who all think climate change is an existential threat but each person can have differing opinions on the path the globe should take to deal with it. What legislation, both in the U.S. and globally, do you want to see passed to address it?

It's cliched - but there is no Planet B.

For one, it better hurry up. There has been no change yet. Two, Obama must be the dumbest motherfucker on this planet to by a 15 million home in a flood zone on MV.

The 1st step is that it has to be acknowledged AS that existential threat. The dopey ridicule that accompanies the topic has to be a thing of the past.

Ultimately, we can pull out all the stops in America, but this is a worldwide issue. Nothing we do will matter without China, India, Europe, et al.

It's a monumental task. But much of the world is already at least at the acknowledgment stage. From there, I'd probably suggest both domestic and global conferences with the best minds in technology, agriculture, development, population issues, energy, etc. to hammer out both domestic and global action plans related to all of those areas. We need population control; we need better planning on new development; we need to radically change how we produce and consume energy.

It sounds like a lot. But it's either that, or we do what we usually do - wait until it's well beyond the crisis stage, and deal w/ the consequences at that point.
