Since wind is air in motion it has momentum. This momentum is transferred to the object the wind hits. Thus, the force of the wind can push objects by moving them or knocking them over. Winds moving over and around objects can cause pressure changes around the object, which can also cause it to move.

I never claimed that it's sufficient to move a gun on the center of the table to the edge and off with a "puff of wind" (Katherine Johnson's words).

Remember, you are dealing with a mathematician and a physicist. Also a computer programmer so I can simulate the conditions.

As more details emerge it sounds like there was bullying that may have prompted this whole incident... which means they are probably lots of people who knew what was going on and just didn't say anything.... and now for kids in Idaho stabbed to death? Pretty sure people knew what was going on there as well... so sad..
If you see something say something it could really save lives ..

Kids were bullied when we were kids too. Thing is, we didn't shoot the bullies, we cornered them alone and beat the living shit out of them. It was over after that.

Our "bullies" were just one of the dozen cliques...there were never fights....just a bunch of mouthy kids who were invited to fit in, but refused....;)
My dad had guns in a gorgeous cabinet(military and relatives rifles)...I don't remember any kids ever having guns...
Kids aren't mentally prepared these days to deal appropriately with too much at all...they just let things build up until they explode...unless someone steps up to help...Obviously, that never happened enough with this young man...It's just heartbreaking...

Ok Mr. mathematician. How much wind is needed to move a 2.7 lb. piece of steel lying on a cloth tablecloth on a table? Then, how will you get that much wind inside your home?

Still confused about my statement? It is a combination of any things. Also one way a gun could fall is a strong gust wind knocks the table over.
