Our two party system you see in practice forms naturally out of how Americans vote

It’s the people who decide which two parties get to be the TWO

IMO, that "massive base" was mostly people who voted for the "R" and not the "T". Time will tell.

They have been the race baiting corporate whore party all my adult life
I want to go back to having two smart parties Using all the facts to come up with better ideas than each other

We can agree the Republicans have been on the downslide since Newt and the end of the Cold War.
Trump can't start a bowel movement.It's the same concept of his running as an "I". It would have the same effect.
Although... claiming to be starting his own movement would be another great way to con his followers out of cash. "Be a Patriot! Give to the America First Party! Don't Worry, We Won't Steal it This Time, We Promise".
It would work. Even if trump drops out of the race, do you think he'll return the cash?
