You know I've been predicting such a thing for the past year...and an impeachment might be the final push. My prediction was that it'd happen after 20JAN23 in order to give Harris shot at 10 years as President.

He might stick around long enough to prove the Republicans are idiots, meaning after the impeachment fails.

Because no Democrats are likely to vote for impeachment so all Republicans are needed to get the 218 vote majority. It also takes a majority to elect the Speaker but usually all members of each party vote to support the candidate nominated by their party caucus.

It also depends on the rules for voting. Some votes require a majority of those present and voting and others require a majority of the entire chamber.
