Trump feels he can lie about anything, and does, it is part of his schtick. He views it as gaining more by lying than admitting the truth, and it makes sense in his world. When he lies, he draws attention, the MAGA militia are going to believe him regardless, and when challenged about his lie, he can play the martyr, and the MAGA militia love him even more. It’s a win win for him

Not a legal expert but could this be one reason why Trump wants to run for office again? To have legal protection from his own crimes?
