No data is available on that yet, but I suspect it's close to 50% or more. In 2016 it was 40% and it has risen steadily since. 2020 may be an outlier due to Chinese Disease, but I'd still bet the mail-in portion was around 50%

People are abusing our mail-in voting system. 99% of them are in fine health.

Worth pointing out that many red states are trying to replace in-person voting. There are voters in Alaska, Utah, and North Dakota that are only allowed to vote by mail. The Republican Party was major proponents of voting by mail.

Cameras monitoring isn't good enough. Video can be manipulated. PERSONAL monitoring is needed. This is what observers are for. NO counting should be done without observers present. NO access to ballots should be available without observers present.

Observers from all contesting parties.

Washington State uses mail-in ballots exclusively. The elections here are basically a sham.
The SODC (formerly California) uses mail-in ballots exclusively. The elections there are a sham.

You want proof? Go look at election law in these two places.

Generally agreed. Absentee ballots have their place (people serving in the military, the bed ridden, etc). Mail-in ballots have no tracking, no control of transit and storage, and no attachment to any voter for verification (once removed from the envelope).

Ballots should be secured. NO ONE has access to them unless observers from all contesting parties are present. During the voting process itself, the voters themselves are the observers, watching the election workers. No ballot bag or box can be opened by anyone without observers. The election workers at the polling places cannot open the bags and neither can the courier. Any attempt is easily discovered. Counting offices have NO access to ballots without observers present. The bags can only be opened at the counting office, and only with observers present. Damaged or missing bags MUST be accounted for.

These are simple security measures.

They cannot be implemented with mass mail-in ballots.

Nothing stops the elderly from going to a polling place.

Absentee ballots can handle the military and the disabled. This is NOT the same as mass mail-in voting, which is the problem.
