The third time was not the charm for Texas Democrat Beto O'Rourke on Tuesday as voters in the state got a front-row seat to see his latest attempt at higher office come crashing down.

O'Rourke, a former congressman, fell short in his race to unseat incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott the Fox News Decision Desk projected, marking his third loss in four years after running for U.S. Senate in Texas in 2018 and president in 2020.

Although O'Rourke was highly touted by Democrats in each of his campaigns, he consistently failed to gain traction with voters following his 2018 run for Senate, and ultimately he became parody-worthy for "Saturday Night Live" over his perennial, lackluster runs for office.
The hype surrounding O'Rourke began during his failed 2018 Senate campaign, which saw him narrowly lose to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in the deep-red state and continued when he decided to throw his hat into the crowded Democratic presidential primaries less than two years later. Some Democrats even hailed him as "the next Bobby Kennedy," but a number of gaffes and awkward campaign moments led to him losing support and dropping out of the race months before any votes were even cast.

His decision to run for governor brought strong negative reaction from conservatives, who mocked him, and even from a local news outlet that called him unpopular and a "polarizing figure.".......

Abbot crushes Beto. Beto should check is face for wheelchair tracks. I wonder how many dollars Beto wasted on his campaign. If the money Beto had spent on his failed campaign had been spent on other Democrat campaigns maybe they have won a few more seats. Beto is 0 for 3 in baseball that means you are out.

Beto was never going to win. I called it when he announced. He lost to Cancun Ted. He should never have run. Stupid.

It is important that there always be a candidate, even if that candidate loses. Beto O'Rourke is willing to be that candidate. It is a tough thing to do, so I admire him for it.

The only reason O'Rourke should not run again is if there is a better candidate. I really do not see a clear better candidate, so I am all for him running over and over again.

He is a three (3) time loser, Walter.

You want him to be a four time loser?

He is a three (3) time loser, Walter.

You want him to be a four time loser?

I will try to explain this in a way that even you will understand. I do not think you are stupid, just really committed to not understanding.

I want the Democrats to challenge every election, even elections they have a small chance of winning. There is always a chance that something will change quickly, and if you have someone in that race, they could win. So I want a reasonable candidate running for the Governor of Texas. Running in a race you will probably lose is tough, so if O'Rourke is willing to do it, I say good for him.

If there was a Democrat with a better chance of winning than O'Rourke, then fine nominate him... But O'Rourke actually does a good job of running, and actually keeps coming close... In Texas... Which is amazing.

So I want O'Rourke to run again, and hopefully win the next time.

I hope he runs again too, Walter.

A four time loser would be just swell.

A loser running for the Democrats, yes, bring it on.

Well I don’t know if I would count the Presidential attempt, just a shot in the dark, but his political rise has probable passed, kinda like a Walker in the GOP who was the right’s golden boy for awhile, politics is full of such
