It's certainly possible. I think Maher is a little over the top here. But, it's true that most instances in history where freedom gave way to authoritarianism - most who were in that country scoffed at the idea that it could happen.

And there is zero doubt that Trump wants to be a dictator. I don't know how anyone could dispute that.

Stop and think about it.... there are 300 election deniers running for office right now. If any of them win they will never support the certification of any Democrat who ever wins an election again.

And some of them who are in a position to do so, will appoint fellow election deniers as election officials.

It will have a snowball effect.

We have never been in a situation like this before.

Trump changed the rules and opened the floodgates for the lunatic fringe.
 
"Democracy" doesn't "die" because you elect people that want to reduce taxes, eliminate bureaucrats, cut government spending, and reduce the size of government. Yet, the very people that want to do exactly the opposite are the ones telling you that democracy will die if you don't keep them in power...

More government for women. More border security than what is already there. More government in public schools. That's just to name three things.
 
Do we really need democracy? I mean were about to head into irreversible Climate Change. If Democrats were in charge we wouldnt even get EPA permits by the time the deadline hits. The only chance we have is to vote GOP.

Vote GOP to save the planet!

I'm more of an optimist. I think there are enough cool heads in our current electorate to put the "kibosh" on the MAGA Republicans' efforts. The states might be laying the groundwork to change election results, but when it comes time to "pull the trigger", I don't think any of those nut bags will have the balls to overturn the will of the people of their state.

Again, I honestly feel when it comes right down to it, the election denying nut jobs won't have the cajones to actually ignore the will of their state's voters. It would cause chaos in that state. People don't like their votes wiped out.
