Is Bill Maher right about the end of democracy?

I just wish our democracy wasn't hanging in the balance. If the Republicans take the house - poor Kevin the whimp will become speaker and will have the deal with the likes of MTG, Boobert, Gaetz, and Gym Jordan. He's gonna get eaten alive by those maniacs. Remember when the TeaBag party ran off John Boener? It's gonna be much worse for Kev.

It's not "game over"! They'll impeach Biden, but they can't run him off. It takes a vote of both parties in the Senate to convict and no Democrat, other than Sinema would vote for that.

Remember, twump was impeached twice.

Right, but in a divided Senate, which it still will be after Tuesday, no matter who's in the majority, Biden will not be convicted. Like I said, Republicans in the house will still do it, but when Biden's impeachment gets to the Senate, it will die, like both of twumps did.

You know. I'm an optimist. I'm thinking people like Romney, Collins, Murdock, Chuck Grassley, and even Mitch McConnel will say, "wait a minute, this is too much". I feel there's a limit to what non-MAGA Republicans will withstand.

They're being pushed out of the Republican Party just like moderates were pushed out of the Democratic Party. The only reason the Democrats nominated a one-term Presidential candidate in 2020 is because they finally recognized that, after pushing out all the moderates early in the nomination process, that the wackadoodles left on the stage couldn't beat Trump.

In the end, I think this will work out, but it will take the American public to realize the problems and the solutions to fix those problems. Turning the US into an authoritarian quasi-theocracy isn't working.

I see violence in our future, but nothing on the level of the 1960s. A few hundred people will die; either murdered by White Supremacist terrorists blowing up Federal daycare centers or, more probably, Lone Wolf attacks by RWNJs and the occasional LWL.

Notice the violence of the 60s gave way to "normalcy" for 30 years.

To be honest, the LWLs need to practice shooting more. They usually fuck up their attacks. If a RWer had attacked a Democrat baseball team, there'd have been a lot of dead ball players instead of shooting one in the ass before getting killed by the cops.

Ok. Dutch. The possibilities of the type of violence where we all start shooting at each other is a wing nut fantasy, in my opinion. Even most people who vote MAGA are non-violent people, like Life is Golden for example who honestly feels Democrats are Satan and that's why we need to vote Republican. She doesn't want violence.

The Republicans may take both houses next week. That's not going to cause gunfights in the streets. Now, 2024? You know there's an intramural "girl fight" going on between DeSantis and twump right now. I honestly feel the clown show is going to cause the GOP to disintegrate and become a laughingstock

There are enough cool heads left in this country to prevent a real "civil war".

We're a socially regressive dumpster fire where clowns like Reagan, the Bushes, and Trump actually matter politically.
