One reality they don’t get is that in a closed shop is that joining the union is part of accepting the job, you aren’t in the job and then they force you to join the Union, you agree to joining as a requirement of the job. You don’t want to join, don’t accept the job, it’s that easy

Wouldn't say one of the more powerful unions in the country, influential yes, but as I said they have limited tools in their tool chest, if one school district does a number on their benefits, think for example Kentucky with their pension funds, the Union is helpless, they can't call for a national strike to address the issue as per say the UAW

Safe to go back in public and private schools wasn't the same, what was good for one private school didn't necessarily mean for an entire public school district, more factors involved, and to automatically explain it in straight political and ideological terms isn't correct

Why would a teacher cross the teacher union? And bringing the NRA up as an example is inane, nothing personal, but teacher unions don't fight for something that has shown to kill innocent people, sometimes lots of people

Science is science. How is science different at a private school vs public school? This isn't something being said in hindsight it was talked about at the time that following certain procedures it was safe to go back to school and many public schools didn't. (and of course we're seeing all the data about how damaging it was to the kids)

I was talking about politicians crossing the teachers union (well, being afraid too). It's a great analogy along with the NRA because it's about power and money.

Teachers are no more "woke" than anybody else. What is done by few does not mean it is supported by most or that they are actually following those practices in the classroom. Students don't read the stuff anyway because teachers do not require it.

Antagonism towards the teachers' unions is little more than a right-wing attack against public education and organized labor at the same time.

It lines up conveniently for them.

Meanwhile, we have private Christian schools essentially training Hitler Youth
and home-schooling morons making sure that their kids never learn anything necessary to become a responsible adult.

I support unions 100% and have nothing but contempt for working class idiots who don't.
