The main reason why so many people are homeless in California, is because the real estate there has well long since priced most available buyers out of the market of home ownership altogether.

Just had to get that out there- first and foremost.

2ndly, people have been "Going to California" to dig for gold (or whatever) for a very long time now. The rush never ended. During the 60's the Haight Ashbury district was the hippy capitol of the world, and many of life's dropouts ended up there on the streets. Teenagers were dropping out of school, rebelling against the war and their parents, and hitchhiking to California to become a part of the hippie and music/drug scene sub-culture that grew out of proportion in the late 60's to early 70's.

I'm not saying that illegal immigration has not made the matter twice as bad, as I believe it has majorly contributed to the problem that has already been there for many years, BUT HEY, CALIFORNIA HAS NO PLACE FOR ALL THESE PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO BUY, Who HAVE NOTHING BUT THE CLOTHES ON THEIR BACKS, SO THEY END UP ON THE STREETS!

Many people have lost their homes due to fires in California- AND HAVE ENDED UP ON THE STREETS BECAUSE THEY LOST EVERYTHING THEY HAD and do not have the funds to get back on track financially to recover or afford just a roof over their heads now.

There are people now who comfortably own homes now, where they are now unable to pay their taxes on their homes- because- as their property values and escrows mushroomed out of control- SO DID THEIR LOCAL REAL ESTATE TAXES!

90% of Americans who have homes now, couldn't even afford to buy the home they are living in now, because Real Estate and rental prices overall has increased over 75% in just the last year- an election year (of course)! That fact and condition is not going to be able to sustain itself for very long.

Home and homeowners insurance is getting unaffordable to most home owners now, as they have seen their prices skyrocket in just the last year as the replacement costs have tripled in many cases. Because of all the increase of natural disasters alone, to include fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, and fire, insurance compaies are going broke and having to increase their prices.

Expect the Real Estate bubble to pop after the election. A lot of this inflation is pure politics FOLKS! We are all being manipulated by the political circus going on.

Greed and political and racial hatred is about to catch up to America in a huge way- and we haven't even seen the worst of it yet!

“I’m a little shocked,” she said, “but not really that shocked, in all honesty.”...

DePape, 42, was taken to a hospital and later booked at the San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary and destroying a cellphone to prevent someone from seeking help, authorities said.
