China Is About to Fall Into the Middle-Income Trap

They have a plan for that...global domination.....where workers and resources flow to China just as they did to Rome.

The middle income trap refers to domestic economic issues, so you are off topic. China is not looking to recreate Rome, because that is not a big thing to them. They certainly do not want an influx of foreign workers. They want to recreate China for obvious reasons. From nearly the beginning of history to 1890, China was the strongest manufacturing country on Earth. There was a tributary system in place for China.

But that is off topic. China has hit the middle income trap, without eliminating extreme poverty, and having already maxed out population growth. That is not a good thing, for China.

I had to google middle income trap.

Why don't they just say Stagnant economy.

There are many different reasons for a stagnant economy, one of them is the middle income trap. It is more descriptive of the exact problem.

I don't like the term, I think it is deceptive. It sounds like middle class trap, which is ridiculous.

So because you do not understand what it means, you do not like the term? Why should we care? You liking the term or not does not change the reality the term refers to. You cannot wish the reality away.

Blather.

granted my exposure to the markets of China have been limited to a brief foray into marketing e cigarettes back in the 90s but if I can extrapolate on what I observed China was its own competitor......true, they would permit innovators to engage in capitalism, but they would maintain control of every enterprise.......if one entrepreneur was successful in creating a marketable product they would immediately permit a hundred others to open factories making the exact same product, most of them creating an inferior product.......they would flood the market, consumers would get frustrated and even the original innovator would collapse or come up with a new, better product.......the pattern would repeat, though they would continue to produce both the original failed product and all subsequent failed products en masse until their warehouses were full......you can still go to places like Ali Baba and buy the original designed e cigarette by the tens of thousand.....

A Nigerian conspiracy website? Really?

Xi just had his twice a decade congress, and announced his national goals. The key goal was to become like Spain is now, by 2035. That is not a joke.

Xi wants to turn China into a "mid-level developed country", like Spain, by 2035. Three years ago, that would have seemed possible. Today, that is looking impossible. China does not have the steady leadership we have. Thank you, Biden.

Xi wants China to have a per capita GDP by 2035.
