Murders in NYC went from 2245 in 1990 to 292 in 2017. That is a 87% drop. Chicago is considered a failure, for "only" dropping the murder rate by a third. Most major Democratic cities were able to drop it by two thirds.

A comedian once made the point that the West Coast was nice but not kind, and the East Coast was kind but not nice. I think he meant only the Northeast when he said "East Coast". New Yorkers are definitely not polite, but they are often kind in a way others are not.

There will be somewhere between 100 and 200 gun deaths today in America. There will be about that many in an entire year of the United Kingdom, and Japan will have about 10 gun deaths this year.

Conscientious, responsible gunowners (aka the vast, overwhelming majority of gun owners) find morons like these guys as repulsive as you Hoplophobes do. And these guys are double dumbasses because they used their Ring doorbell incorrectly. You get one of those things to alert you to something fishy going on. It allows you to assess the situation and monitor it while staying away from the door and calling 911 if necessary. But it also allows 2-way communication. So, to the good Samaritan neighbor, I would say if you see and recognize a ring doorbell, ring the doorbell, identify yourself and state your business, and leave. If anyone is home, you may get a nice "thank you"! If not, there is a recording that the homeowner now has that is not going to cause them any anxiety. Also helps to get to know your neighbors in the first place.

Some advice to the 2 idiot gunslingers: never drop the soap in the prison shower.
