Maher in one of his latest dialogues pointed out something that Leftist Democrats can't comprehend, but is nonetheless true.

Maher brought his audience up to date on the Georgia Senate race, which has Republican Walker — a former football player — competing with Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock. And along with that update of the race comes an update on everything Walker has said, has done and has been revealed about him in the past month.

"Well, first of all, he's just an idiot on a scale almost impossible to parody," Maher began. "Although we did once present his book called 'Hershel Walker: Science Talker,' because he says things like, 'If man descended from apes, why are there still apes?' Then there's the lying and the crazy and the violence."

So, Maher asked, why do Republicans stand by him now?

"The easy answer is they're deplorables, ignorant and bad. Yes, there is some of that, but I'm sorry if I'm going to stay in America and America's going to stay America, I can't write off half the country that easily. Also, I talk to deplorables, so let me try to translate, not endorse, but translate for Liberal America," Maher said.

"Part of the appeal of a Herschel Walker or a Donald Trump or any number of egregious a–holes Republicans have backed is, in their mind, the worse a candidate is, the more it says to Democrats, 'Do you see how much we don't like what you are selling? All that socialism and identity politics and victimhood and oversensitivity and cancel culture and white self-loathing and forcing complicated ideas about race and sex on kids too young to understand it. Literally anything would be better than that.' That's their view."

Actually, as the Democrats race to the Left, it's becoming the viewpoint of as many as 2 out of 3 Americans--Anything is better than electing some radical Leftist that's going to enslave us with Socialism, tax us to death, take away every freedom, and in general turn our lives to shit.
 
I've felt for a long time that Republicans vote more to tick liberals off than to actually elect good, sound leaders.

What patriots. They must really love the country to do that.

Actually, as the Democrats race to the Left, it's becoming the viewpoint of as many as 2 out of 3 Americans--Anything is better than electing some radical Leftist that's going to enslave us with Socialism, tax us to death, take away every freedom, and in general turn our lives to shit.

It's not to "tick off liberals" so much as offer a stark, even stunning alternative. Only about 20 to 30% of voters agree with the Left once they go hardcore. We're there. The Left thinks they have things all wrapped up in their favor--they always do. Then there's an election, one the Left says they'll accept regardless of outcome because they are so damn sure they're going to win.
Then they get creamed. Not just a little bit, but curb stomped. They react first by being stunned. Then they angrily seek ways to overturn the results resorting to any and all ploys--legal or not--to get their way. That just makes people angrier at them.
We're there. The country is fed up with radical Leftist stupidity and assinity. Sure, Trump sucks as a candidate. Many other Republicans do too. But for a majority it's better than continuing to put up with the Left's shit. It's how the Soviet Union fell. It just took longer because there, the radical Left had a solid lock on power they don't have--yet--in the US.

This is the 'You don't get it part.' The Left never sees it coming. They are so insulated in their own little bubble they can't see the reality surrounding them. I've seen it too many times now over decades.

You miss the whole point of Mahr's screed.....the GOP will give America sociopathic and fascist assholes like Trump and Walker because they can zero in on INDIVIDUAL examples within the "liberal" strata and say "See? They're all like this and that's what they want for YOU and YOUR children!"

Now if you can show me a valid poll among ALL Democrats, Progressives and people who identify themselves as "liberals" that they support the nonsense Mahr points to, and if that poll is a positive majority, then you have a basis for a debate.

If not, you're just blowing smoke out of your posterior as trolls are prone to do.
