I love Fox News

All agreed, except on the taxation thing, which is why I feel it hasn't been legalized yet.

You cannot effectively tax pot, as it is easy to grow and cultivate yourself.

True, just as back yard gardens etc... are easy to do. Those who choose to grow their own... don't get taxed.

But I would be willing to bet a good portion of the population of users would not be growing their own. If it is legalized, mass production would make it cheap enough that most people wouldn't inconvenience themselves with growing their own.

Obviously this is just my opinion... I could be wrong.

good pot is not that easy to grow, ahh I know a guy who knows a guy.

Most would do just like they do with booze and cigarettes, pony up.

Wow, is Fox going Libertarian? I have to admit. I've only watched Fox once in the last year and that was on election night (oh the joy!).

I've heard Neapolitano talk on this subject before. He also advocates ending the war on drugs and adopting the public health approach. He readily admits that as a jurist he is uncomfortable with drug possesion cases in that the issue of drug dependency is an issue beyond his area of expertise. That being the Law.

I was wondering why your posts were usually the rants of a pinhead...and that sure as hell explains why........

I respectfully disagree. Too many people already know how to grow and cultivate weed, because of the prohibition. I'm all for legalizing, I just think it's unable to be taxed effectively, just like prostitution and moonshine.

Are you kidding me Capt.
How much moonshine is made compared to Budwiser and Jack Daniels. They are paying taxes.
It takes months outdoors and can only be done once a year, and 100 days inside with expensive lights. You'd still have home growers like you have moonshiners, prob a higher %. But it would be thousands of home growers to millions of store bought. No doubt.

I disagree with your disagreement. As toppy stated, most people may know how to grow weed, but are not successful at growing the good stuff. Plus, if the good stuff was mass produced, I think many of the individuals who do grow it would revert to buying it as it would be less hassle.

Hmmm.... run out and buy a pack of J's vs.... growing my own plants, cultivating them and rolling my own.... I know which I would choose. Obviously, like the backyard garden... some people will indeed do it on their own. The tax would be on the mass produced MJ... not on all MJ. Just like it is on tomato's, corn etc...

You guys in Denver have it good with your dispenceries.
I would love that, too bad we closed out Denver office.

I think most people would be like me and start out buying the good stuff from the store while growing their own low grade herb in the yard. As my growing skills got better and the results got "tastier", I'd eventually end up buying less from "the man".

They would be able to produce it more efficiently and probably cheaper as you have stated, and have access to the better strains!

There will still be those who like home grown! Just like home made beer and wine!

exactly... there will always be the 'do-it-yourself' crowd and that is fine. But like alcohol, veggies and other home made goods... the majority will likely go for the convenience of having someone else do the work and will trade that convenience for a higher cost (potentially).

nobody in big numbers would grow just like cigs
a moderate size facility with good lights will kick out some dro that would make you stomp your popcorn buds in the back yard.

How much moonshine is consumed in one sitting vs Bud or Jack? Same with smoking weed and cigarettes. Now if more people want to go out and buy that's fine. Again I'm all for legalization. I'm not a big fan of taxes though.

Fair enough but I still don't believe that many will buy instead of produce, or buy from a friend who does (the current system).

How can you believe that when all evidence is to the contrary.

Cigs and Alchohal, 99% store bought

Herbage would be no different

Those are consumed in greater quantity per individual than grass, so it's not an accurate to compare that. Your average smoker goes through a pack of cigarettes a day. Your average beer drinker will have between around a case a week (assuming 3 drinks a day, every day). Your average pot smoker will smoke, 3 a day at most? So it's not that much easier to buy at the store, depending of course on price.

Price is the point!!!!
Pot once legalized would have the price plummet and the street dealer is out of business. Nobody is paying $400 an ounce when legalized, companies could produce it at a fraction of the street value and still make cake.
