WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - A member of the far-right Proud Boys pleaded guilty on Thursday to a charge of seditious conspiracy over his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, making him the first member of the group to do so.

Jeremy Bertino, 43, of Belmont, North Carolina, could potentially become a key witness against five other members of the group, including former Proud Boys Chairman Enrique Tarrio, who are due to stand trial beginning in December on charges including seditious conspiracy.

Proud Boys member is first to plead guilty to seditious conspiracy



Jeremy Bertino, a top lieutenant to Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy in federal court on Thursday, and is cooperating with the Justice Department’s investigation into the far-right extremist group.

Bertino, 43, also pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. He is the first member of the Proud Boys to plead guilty to seditious conspiracy – a major boost to the historic prosecution of the organization.

Its being reported that the Secret Service had contacts with one of the Proud Boys spilling his guts to the Justice Department....keep in mind, this is the same turn coat secret service, who conveniently erased all their cell phone data.

When something happened, it was ipso facto possible. Bertino is guilty of seditious conspiracy.

5-10 years in prison is a lot better than 20 years at ADX Florence. There is no honor among terrorists who plot to murder Americans.
