October surprise

Trumpers don't care and they'll defend not caring by claiming Democrats wouldn't care either, meaning they can defend themselves only by imagining the worst about Democrats, and in this they find moral comfort. Tells you what
a shithole the moral world of the Republican Party is.

Speaking as a Republican, there's a lot of things Republicans and the Republican Party are rightfully called out for. But spare me the holier than thou thought/rhetoric as if Democrats are really all that different. All this 'we wouldn't support hypocrites' and 'we're not racist' and on and on and on. To me, there would be a lot more respect involved if people could at least recognize their own faults but political tribalism doesn't allow that.

As I said, Republicans will (and now do) imagine moral comfort for themselves.

Only one party abandoned the peaceful transition of power.

Trumpism is a pure political tribalism. A dangerous one.

Yes they will. For the sake of discussion do you think you and/or Democrats do the same?

Do I hypothetically believe Democrats would react as Republicans are reacting and so be in a position to find it necessary to imagine moral comfort for themselves?

I think Democrats are more likely to turn away in disgust. They've done it before.

For the sake of discussion.

A Democrat who openly bragged about grabbing pussy, fucked porn stars while his wife was pregnant, and used campaign money to shut them up would not stand the slightest chance of being the Democratic nominee for president in the 21st century, let alone become the darling of the party.

Walker's campaign is a dumpster fire. Have fun with your idiotic Trump candidates. They are going to get buried.

Sitting on a boring ass Zoom call so to pass the time here goes some mindless partisanship. So Democrats wouldn’t nominate someone who says they grab women in the pussy and bangs hookers but they will nominate someone who wrote the 1986 and 1994 crimes bills that have been called The New Jim Crow and locked more black men up than any other legislation and exacerbated inequality. Because that’s ok. And you have a Governor of the largest state who is about to easily win re-election and likely run for the Presidency who not just cheated on his wife but did it with his best buddy/campaign managers wife. Many people cheat, that’s a reality. But banging your best buddies wife? Unless you live a swingers lifestyle who does that?

The whole glass houses thing when you’re trying to put yourself above others

Herschel Walker‘s campaign was delivered two big surprises, Herschel‘s son‘s Christian Walker wrote on Twitter that his mom and himself had to move six times in six months due to threats of domestic violence from his dad.

There is also a woman who has come forward with receipts claiming she had an abortion in 2009 that Walker paid for her to have. Walker claims to be against abortion no exceptions.

It seems he’s cancelled his debate with Warnock as well.

And still, EVERY Republican, as well as pro life org. is still backing Walker.

Because the alternative is to give up on that seat, which ultimately makes sure Dems. keep the Senate.

You invented your own strawmwn version of the question

This is the question I asked.

Write down a list of modern examples (aka, don't time travel back five decades) of major Democratic nominees for US Senate or President who had serious and sustained allegations of violence and threats against a spouse or GF, and still continued to receive party support.

My question was Senate and presidential nominees. The filter and expectations for those kind of candidates is much higher.

There are enough sleazebags in this country that any number of them can sneak into the house of representatives, state legislatures, city councils, school boards, and boy scout troops..

Senator Luis Sepúlveda NY, 2021, Senator Tom Carper DE 2017, Senator Joe Morrisey VA 2014. Those are just a few. You can stop with your lefty holier than thou shit. Ignorant fuck.

Given those kind of problems, he would never be allowed to be a Democratic nominee for US Senate, and quite possibly run out of the party.
Which is the dig on the party. They tend to demand sanitized candidates.

That's because the party is so diverse. Republicans are basiclly interested in taking power, even if it means polluting the ranks with Nazis. They're pretty homogenous.

Hell...Franken was tossed for doing a comedy bit with an aspiring whore.
