Trump wouldn't want DeSantis to be his wingman because DeSantis would easily outshine Trump.

Behind the scenes, I expect DeSantis will help undermine Trump by supporting legal actions against him.

The odds strongly favor DeSantis becoming the RNC nominee in 2024. How well Florida recovers from Ian will help boost or detract from his chances of winning Election 2024.

The best scenario would be for both of them to make a quiet deal; Trump endorsing DeSantis, then putting Trump in charge of the DOJ. That would clean up that agency and make it trustworthy again.

If they succeed in indicting Trump DeSantis should run and when elected pardon Trump and Trump should run and become Speaker of the house.
