dude....how old are you...aren't you in your early 20's....nearly everyone in their 20's could potentially be considered a sociopath.....ESPECIALLY by those who have lived through it....

LOL

That's right! Some marry for money. :cof1:
Everyone marries for material reasons. Those of you that have daughters, would you encourage them to marry a guy that slept through highschool, dropped out and at age 30 is still a fry cook at Mickie D's. Not just no but FUCK NO! Sex, and its underlying behaviors developed through selection. At first I am sure that men and women coupled just because their basic drives told them too. But then the ones that coupled and had no means by which to provide for themselves and their progeny died out. Those behaviors and physical attributes that were possessed by the most successful providers became the desired traits. Those men that did not possess those traits in some form or another did not breed and their genotype died out. Those women that were still attracted to men that could not provide for them, for whatever reason, died as did the children they created with those men, further hampering procreation of those genes. Soon there were more women desiring a smaller pool of successful men. Thus for thousands of years there were polygamous relationships. We have been in this state of "forced monogomy" for a far shorter time than we were in the state of one man for several women. The primary porblem, and the reason that a large number of men are not naturally monogamous, is that particular trait does not show up in a guy until he has coupled with a woman. So men with a stronger desire for multiple partners still procreate and transfer that part of their code to their male children. I would classify myself as a serial monogomyst. I have been married 3 times and in long term relationships 4 times of which three children were borne by 2 women. Some men cannot handle the serial monogomy. They don't desire to be restricted to one woman at a time. I think that number will decrease over time, but after the desire to feed ourselves, sex is next. We eat and fuck, in that order. All things follow from that. If they didn't, we would not be successful as a species.

Guys, all I can say is please don't use the "evolution and biology forced me to cheat!" excuse, if you're ever caught in an affair. It will sound ridiculous.

This isn't rocket science. Of course, all or most primate species to my knowledge seek out multiple sex partners. Male and female both. This isn't ground-breaking news. I think its common knowledge that humans lust for other humans.

And of course having an affair doesn't make one a bad person, by default. And of course a significant number of men and women are going to have an affair at some point in their life.

But its a given that trust, respect and monogamy are the foundation of most committed relationships. Biology not withstanding. If a dude simply can't handle the idea of monogamy, there are options. Stay single. Or get with a gal who is into swinging.

Amen!

At the same time, don't pretend that concepts of fidelity and monogomy are just going to overcome thousands of years of selection.

I don't know about that. Consider, if you will, the following.

Genesis 6,
"1": And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

"2": That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

"3": And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

"4": There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.(END)

If the daughters of men were good enough for the Gods, if the Gods were tempted by the daughters of men, can we expect the lowly human male not be lured? Dare we even suggest the human male is superior to the Gods when it comes to temptation? Do we want to be struck by lightening where the sun never shines?

Sons of God? I thought he just had one?

Like any other family there is always a favorite.

"Johnny got all "A's" on his tests." "Johnny made the school team." Johnny this. Johnny that. We never hear about Bill and Mark and Susan.

Probably the same scenario.
