This is why the Public Option is having Problems!

You have senators and congressmen from both parties but mostly republicans, taking money from the healthcare industry! When you take money from someone, its for a favor, not because they like you!

(Quid pro quo) From the Latin meaning "something for something")[1] indicates a more-or-less equal exchange or substitution of goods or services. English speakers often use the term to mean "a favor for a favor" and the phrases with almost identical meaning include: "what for what," "give and take," "tit for tat", "this for that", and "you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours".

Of course. It is the same reason we have no new regulations to prevent the same kind of finiancial meltdown we just experienced.

the only problem i have with the public option is this:

1. if it is solely to open up competition, bad....there are anti trust laws for this

2. medicare is already a government insurance option....why create another, why not expand medicare?

this h/c bill is worthless without either 1 or 2 above.....if they simply require people to have insurance like auto insurance, it ""might"" drive prices down due to quantity, but, most likely the ins co will simply charge whatever because they can...or more companies will then get into health ins like auto ins and the price will come down.....

either way.....the competition thing needs to be fixed and the preexisting thing needs to be fixed....we are not autos

I can't disagree with that Yurt.

We need open nationwide competition. Do away with the state restrictions.

what are the state restrictions?

ironically, most of the state restrictions are requirements that insurance companies must offer things that the government reform plan requires....things like agreeing not to dump someone for preexisting conditions, etc......

the true risk of the so-called public option is unfair competition...if all insurance companies were required to operate under the same rules you wouldn't need a public option to accomplish what the libs pretend they want to accomplish.....

Get your facts straight....

Since Democrats took control of Congress in 2006, health care industry donors have been giving more campaign cash to Democrats than Republicans. Democrats have received about 63% of the health sector's donations so far this year. Overall, the industry appears to be on track to spend more on campaign contributions than in previous years, said David Levinthal, of the Center for Responsive Politics.

Of course they have been giving more to the party in power. It is just prudent business methods.

Besides they know they have the Republicans support anyway.

Glad you agree with me that signalmankenneth is another ranting liberal idiot, that walks around with blinders on when it comes to democrats.
