Interesting article. However it was written by a guy unfamiliar with the ingenuity of people with limited resources but big motivation. These are the same people who know how to make deadly explosive devices from unused artillery shells. Stripping the electronics from a vehicle hardly makes it useless to them, as there are always workarounds.

It's up to you to prove your own assertions, not me to disprove. My position was buttressed by the example that I already gave. IEDs were a large part of why the US was defeated in that region.
